REcycling is Good. PREcycling is Better!

This blog is all about my family and me and our journey to be green.  In other words, we’re trying to be healthier, smarter and care for the planet that we have so graciously been gifted.  I consider us stewards that, at the very least, should make smarter choices and clean up our own messes.

No, I don’t go around hugging trees (tree trunks are “scratchy” and don’t really smell that great), but I do think it’s important that we do our part.  And I assure you, I’m not a finger…

Turn Your Trash Into CA$H

Recycling is not a new concept to most people.  People are now responding to the need for a greener planet by either reusing products around the home or recycling items they no longer wish to keep.  People are doing a better job of rinsing out their plastic containers, glass bottles and aluminum cans for pickup by the recycling agency.  More and more folks are bundling their newspapers and magazines for collection, rather than just throwing them away.  But what about those items deemed…

My Love Affair With Trash

I love to shop as much as the next woman, but since I am back to staying at home, I really don't want to be spending the extra money by shopping until I drop.  Well, at least not by going to shopping malls and paying full price- I can certainly do without that.  While I often shop at stores like Marshall's and TJ Maxx, sometimes it makes more sense to save even more money.  And we all like to…

Things I've Learned This Week

** Once again, I have no desire to go out and get all crazy on New Year's Eve.  (I'd rather do it the night BEFORE New Year's Eve.)

** Christmas cookies seriously kicked my ass this year.

** Trying to write with a house full of people is like trying to have sex with a house full of people (uh....not that I would know or…

Why do we buy so many kids toys?

Why do we think kids need so many toys? I am DONE!

When I was young we had a handful of toys and we were fine with that. It seems now that kids, mine included, have more toys then I did my entire childhood. This is what I walk downstairs too daily, it’s the play room.…

The Unfortunate Trash Can Fiasco

When you're a dog owner, like it or not, scooping the poop kinda just goes with the territory -- at least it's supposed to anyway.  And unlike some of the other yahoos around here, I would personally never leave a steaming pile of lawn sausages in my neighbor's front yard.  It's just not the neighborly thing to do.  Now do I enjoy picking up a handful of…

Stylish Trash Bags? Designerliner

Picture your beautiful bathroom that you have just lovingly freshened up with some new towels, bath mat and cute accessories. Then you take one look a your new waste basket and it’s draped with the ugly, ill-fitting shopping bag with handles. Ok, so you get points for re-using but still, it’s not a pretty sight and…
