The 15-minute mile

Something very silly occurred to me the other day, as I was thinking about how I don't make enough time in my day for exercise. My problem is that I have been looking at my schedule for a large block of time, but the truth is I don't need that. I just need 15 minutes.…

Difference in "knowing" and KNOWING!

When you live in the middle of nowhere, better known as the boonies, like we do, you know that you are surrounded by all sorts of wild life. I know that there are deer, bunnies, squirrels, raccoon, foxes, coyotes...and ugh spiders and snakes!

I thought that I had reached my highest level of "EEK"  possible last year at Emalee's birthday party. All the kids outside playing and what pops up under a sprinkler?? Black widows! Oh my gosh! Can you say one freaked out moma?!?

What…

The Man in Brown

It's amazing to me how Goatdog and I can have such differing opinions of the UPS man. We're talking complete opposite ends of the spectrum, people.  I just so happen to LOVE a visit from the man in brown.  I mean, he brings me wine and shoes and sassy new dresses -- what girl wouldn't love that??!  Goatdog,…

Goatdog and the Stolen Cheerios

The mystery of how I can wanna squeeze and hug our beastly goof of a dog one minute and then release him to a pack of hungry grizzlies the next continues to baffle me.  Yes, Goatdog is doing his damnedest to make sure that our love-hate relationship doesn't die out too quickly.  Sometimes he's my big, furry buddy, and then other times, he's a prickly thorn in my side…

Going on a Nature Walk

Step 1: Collection

On Friday, I handed two cellophane bags to my kids and we took a walk.  They each began collecting small items from nature.  Jellybean was way less selective than Buddy. She also listened better to the instruction: "Don't dump your bag until I get a picture!" …

Yet Another Reason Why I'm THE Queen of Embarrassing Moments

I think we've all learned by now that I am THE queen of embarrassing moments.  Lord knows I've certainly had way more than my fair share of 'em.  And if I hadn't figured out how to laugh at myself a long, long time ago, well, I'd sure as hell be living in a ditch somewhere with a bag over my head by now.  Luckily, though, I just dust myself off and move on with the show,…

The Unfortunate Trash Can Fiasco

When you're a dog owner, like it or not, scooping the poop kinda just goes with the territory -- at least it's supposed to anyway.  And unlike some of the other yahoos around here, I would personally never leave a steaming pile of lawn sausages in my neighbor's front yard.  It's just not the neighborly thing to do.  Now do I enjoy picking up a handful of…

The sanpietrino miracle

Everytime we step out for our  little neighborhood walks, me and Princess Giulia hear voices coming from either the end of the street or the corner of the square asking;

"Is she sleeping?"

And my answer is pretty much always the same:

"Yes. She is".

Again.

Bar tender: "Is she sleeping?"

MiR…

Just a matter of perspectives…

During our first walks out,

me and Hubby got really well organized.

Bassinet, humidified towels, little shoes, socks...

Everything seemed to be perfectly under control.

Being two completely inexperienced parents, we thought that we were pretty smart after all.

We kind of had…

Responding to Single Dad Laughing

There is a blog on the web that I enjoy reading called "Single Dad Laughing". It offers a humorous, yet often times serious point of view on certain topics. While becoming a frequent reader of this blog, I was finding myself wanting to comment on the various topics. Sometimes I agree with the perspective reflected, but often times, I disagree, which in turn makes me want to offer my own point of view. The problem with simply…

Walk This Way

After the Farmer's Market, some frozen yogurt and coffee, we headed out to Grandma's house for an hour or so. J is so into walking nowadays! He loves it and is enjoying his new freedom!…

Calling Mom Bloggers to Help Me Out!

As many of you know from the badge on my page, I'm participating in the Breast Cancer 3Day in Cleveland in just over a month. My training walks are going well, but I need A LOT of help in the fundraising arena. I can't walk unless I hit a minimum amount and I only need 70 people to donate $20 to get me there. I've decided to test my favorite social media venues to see if I can get that help that I need. So… Continue
