I am VERY close to finishing my long-awaited Ebook, “50 Amazing Ways To Steal Time With Your Kids – A Parent’s Journal”.
I have spent much of this past year thinking about and creating this collection of 50 unique and diverse ideas to share with you, but I am finally about to wrap it up. I will be releasing this book in late September.
This book was designed to cover a vast spectrum of ideas. Most of them can be fit into an ordinary day with just a bit of planning, while a…Continue

I just had the BEST, BEST day with my 6 year old. She’s about to head into Grade 1, and we hit the mall for some back to school shopping together.
Do you look forward to back to school shopping or is it something you dread as the school year approaches?
I love shopping for anything or anyone, but I’ve learned that shopping with 3 kids can be a challenge… each waiting for the other to try on different items. Eventually the boredom sets in and it’s hairy-scary…Continue

Let’s face it. In todays’ world, kids would often rather be spending their time indoors with the assortment of electronics we’ve left at their disposal. Whether they’re watching TV, playing video games or on a smartphone or tablet, the children of this new generation spend an alarming…Continue
I had an interesting morning this week with my 2-year old, Presley. We follow a pretty regular morning schedule with afternoons being more off-the-cuff. Wednesday started like any other typical morning, wake up, have breakfast and head to the gym. Presley will spend an hour in the daycare with the other kids and I work out (well, what is now a very pathetic version of my workout, but we are still moving in some form or another. :). I love it. It’s a win win for both Presley and I. She…Continue

Have you ever slipped and said a tacky word in front of your child? I know that I am guilty of this of accidentally saying something I will regret later or said something that wasn't appropriate for my children to hear. I have always tried to be aware and watch what I say and do in front of them. I want to make sure that my kids aren't picking up bad habits. Believe it or…Continue

Last fall we decided to take my youngest son out of daycare so that he could stay at home with me during the day. At first I was nervous because I wasn’t sure how I was going to care for him during the day. I am thankful that he has started learning how to play independently and can entertain himself for a few minutes. During those first several weeks, I was so excited and wanted to continue teaching him the things that he was currently learning in daycare. Things changed…Continue

Yesterday afternoon when my son got into the car, he was asking his sister if she ever put salt on ice. I didn’t realize that he was talking about putting the salt and ice combination on his skin. I just assumed that his science teacher was teaching them about temperature changes using salt and ice. Then this afternoon, I noticed a huge red spot…Continue

My daughter was born deaf and wears two cochlear implants. While the cochlear implants have changed her life, she is still considered deaf and relies on sign language when her batteries or if there is something wrong with her implants. It wasn’t unheard of my daughter going without an implant for several weeks when she only had one implant. We decided to get her a …Continue
When I was in fourth grade, I remember watching Saturday morning cartoons with my younger brother while my mom would sleep late. In between these cartoon shows, ABC began airing these four-minute music videos by a Puerto Rican group of teenage boys who called themselves Menudo. While my brother would point and laugh at these dark-haired pre-pubescent boys wearing matching outfits, shaking their little hips and singing Spanish songs about shopping malls and…Continue

What I needed as a side companion reading Heaven is for Real while commuting to and from work was a box of Kleenex. I cried like a child reading many sections of this book.
For two years I planned to read this book, but I just got around to it now. And boy am I glad I did. This is just the spiritual inspiration I need in my life at this very moment.
This true story about Colton Burpo’s visit to heaven and his encounter with Jesus Christ happened when he almost died of a…Continue
I caught up with Declan McLeod, the protagonist of the new book series Declan the Kid Detective, at Starbucks to talk about the first book of the series.

We all know it’s really difficult for moms to find precious and much needed “Me-Time” for themselves. Is that you? Do you rarely take a few moments from your busy schedule to kick back, put your feet up, and simply exhale to help relieve the stress? Little breaks are probably an afterthought,…Continue
Traveling with kids is a bit like opening up Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates – you never know what you’re gonna get. After all, even the best kids can be moody and unpredictable, whiney and unruly. So the best thing that you can do is pack plenty of patience, be (at least mentally) prepared for anything and have a few tricks up your sleeves.
Although the patience and mental strength necessary for traveling with kids is something that only you can muster, the tricks and techniques…Continue
