Giving gifts to our family and friends is the core of the holiday season but is one of the biggest stressors for work at home moms. We are already stretched for precious time and we know the difficulty of balancing clients with family. It’s a constant juggling game between the two and when we add all the holiday preparations to our overflowing lists,… Continue

Party Plan/Direct Sales/MLM (Multi-Level Marketing). Most of us are familiar with the direct sales/party plan business model and it's certainly a viable option to make some money from home. It's a great way to jump in an own your own business without the investment and risk involved with starting your own business from the ground up.
The investment is usually under $200 and should give you most of the tools you need to get your… Continue
Well, it's official.....the little bit of unemployment insurance I was bringing in, is now done.
I will still have some mystery/secret shop money coming in.
I enjoy being home though. If something comes along that makes me happy, fine, and if not, fine.We manage.
The book is what I am working on promoting right now.
I had a bigger book store turn it down though since the name wasn't on the spine of the book.As well, they said because we showed photos of older bills, people may… Continue
“I relaunch”, as in I was out of work for a period of time and now would like, or need, to go back to work. MyWorkButterfly.com had the great pleasure of being a media sponsor for the recent iRelaunch conference held this past week at Seton Hall University. I learned much that day from the founders of iRelaunch, Carol and Vivian, and from the corporate participants: Morgan Stanley, Accenture and Goldman Sachs representatives, all of whom embrace many of you who are return-to-work moms. Carol… Continue

I’m a one-at-a-time divulger, usually. But I walked into my doctor’s office and I had a list of three things I wanted to talk about. My arthritic finger that my husband has diagnosed as Lyme’s. My thyroid medicine that was switched last month but isn’t “right”. My undiagnosed ADHD that is morphing into early Alzheimer’s. (See Friday’s pie chart.)
I wrote all three things down on a clipboard that I brought from home, with the carefully worded back story on each. I labeled and… Continue

I don't know about you, but I have come to believe there is no such thing as "extra" cash. Somehow, just when it looks like I'll actually have something left at the end of the month, a pipe will break, the roof will leak, the basement will flood, or I'll need a root canal. Extra cash? I think not.
I do, however, believe in additional cash. This is money that can be available without having to take on a second job. If you, like me,… Continue

I have a 4 year old daughter and she is what we call a coquette. She loves to dress up with beautiful girly clothes and she is very selctive about it. Here where I live in Montreal Canada it is cold now in Septemeber. My daughter loves to wear dresses. So I decided to look for those fashionable long blouses that look a little bit like… Continue

The pregnancy test reads positive and we all, or at least most, jump for joy with excitement and anticipation of the journey we are about to embark upon until we are reminded of… Maternity Leave.
The appropriate time to share your pregnancy with your employer varies depending on your situation and your personal preference. I had been working at a small office for about for years and considered my coworkers to be friends so I shared the news right away. However, when the time came to… Continue
MINE DOES!!!!!!! I am so proud to work from home for a company that provides us with a benefit that is endorsed by the FBI and that is designed to protect our children. Did you know a child is reported missing every 40 seconds in the United States? Did you know that only 10% of families have samples of their kid's fingerprints & DNA?
Our company has a new program available to its Independent Business Owners that will help… Continue

I am a founding executive consultant for the Rodan + Fields Dermatologists new direct selling company, launched by the famous Stanford trained women dermatologists who made the $1 billion brand ProActiv a household name. Imagine if you had the opportunity to have a piece of that business. They are getting ready to do it again - this time with a formula proven to reduce sun damage, which affects approximately 100 million people in the U.S. They are NOW sharing the wealth with fellow Americans… Continue

I should have my own parking space at JFK and LaGuardia. Many industries are like mine, you need to get on a plane to see a customer, work a trade show, evaluate a factory, research a new opportunity, train a sales force or just be present at an industry networking event. There is little you can do about the distance from your family but there is something you can do about making your trip comfortable and productive! I will break it down from booking the trip to arriving home…..
First and… Continue

So many decisions have led me here, where i am. Director of Marketing at a Major medical manufacturer, new mom, wife and new home owner. I majored in Political Science, started in sales and am now in marketing. How does that happen? Like it happens to alot of young people who major in something ridiculous like political science! You get out of college, no idea what to do with the obscure degree you obtained (could be that you majored in a language or just general business!) and you get a first… Continue

Many like to call it work, life balance…I think it is more like juggling! It is not just the job and family pins that are up in the air…there are MANY more. In my world I have the baby, the husband, the house, the career, industry boards I am on, my friends, social networking, blogs and me time. If you sit back and look at it is will make you dizzy. I have decided that the only way I can functionally get through a day and be a rock star at all of these is to juggle them and be completely… Continue

Sometimes I think the most difficult part of having a baby is not the sleepless nights, not the crying, not the birth….it is being away from her. I won’t lie, sometimes it is a needed break when I go to work or I travel and get to sleep past 5 am but not being with her outweighs any brief moment of pleasure I have. I do feel that I am a better mommy to her because I work though. That may not be the case for everyone but for a driven chick like me, someone who thrives on competition and her… Continue
