Drugs, Theft, and Bad Things Little Girls Do

I’ve already confessed to forgery. But I’ve done other hard crimes too.

It’s no secret to anyone who knows me or reads this blog that Barbies were an important part of my childhood. Not in a BFF kind of way, but more in a drug addict kind of…

Book Review: The Last Page in the Diary by Colleen L.Reece

I love reading books that can teach children valuable lessons.  The Last Page in the Diary is a great read for both adults and children.   It is a book that will help teach about the evils of prejudice.  Below is the review I have written of this timeless book.  …

Today's world can be a terrifying place

I had a nightmare Saturday night - jumbled, disjointed, frightening scenes. It started with our family going to a store's grand opening. It ended with me being trapped inside, watching a plane crash-land in the parking lot and skid into the building as panic and chaos erupted all around me.

I couldn't find my husband; I couldn't find my children.

In the dream, I think I was in a Wal-mart, but I might as well have been in a Safeway, because I'm sure the murderous rampage in…

Thankful for the Ones Not Like Me

As a mix breed of German, Irish & Italian, I'm about

as cracker-white-American as they come. I was born & raised in a

white 'burb in Middle-America & grew up on a steady diet of hot

dogs, Mac-n-Cheese & Frosted Flakes. I have pasty white skin, blond

hair, green eyes & my name shouts yankee - "Heather Michelle." But

since moving to Florida, God has opened up… Continue

The Missing Secret to Parenting

Parenting guides, parenting classes, and parenting coaches continue to flood the market at an amazing rate as a result of the time tested theory of supply and demand. There is a huge demand so the supply becomes greater and greater. Today's parents are aware of the difficult times our children face and are concerned. For the most part, the information on the market all have something of value to offer. Some offer methods while others focus on a specific area to address.

The… Continue

So much rain, is it really the end of the world?

It's been raining and raining and raining and raining and raining and raining and raining and raining here in PJ (KL to some others who are not familiar with the term PJ) and I think in a way, it's clogged my brain. Writing, which is second nature to me (first nature being going toilet), is slow because my brain just ain't functioning. Or maybe I just need to eat more Spirulina because it seems that Spirulina boosts brain activity. I get mine… Continue

I put my boots on and trudged through the new snow out to the barn to fax a 137 paged document to my mortgage company…. yet again.

As the cogs in the fax machine began to squeak I stood in Wade’s sacrificial office, which is the antithesis of mine, playing with the smoke that was emitting from my mouth and nose. For me he built a beautiful office, inside the house, with a huge window facing South and situated directly next to the kitchen so I can jut in and out preparing meals and… Continue

Children and the Global World

How to foster cultural awareness at a young age

We learn a lot from our parents—including the things we want to do differently in raising our own children. There are many things my parents have instilled in me for which I now intend to pass along to the next generation, like the pleasure of keeping family recipes alive, a love for all things outdoors, not to mention an ear for great music like The Stones and Dylan (yes, I am a recovering flower child). However, there are things I aim… Continue

Ask any pregnant woman and she will tell you that now she’s expecting what once smelled delicious  - like roasting coffee beans for example, has suddenly become the one smell that induces an overwhelming feeling of nausea. For some women the pregnant nose goes into smell overdrive with incredible detection ability, in fact increased smell sensitivity can save lives. Just ask your local gas company – pregnant…

Black Friday – it’s Not Just About Fashion

Fashion, eh? It comes and goes, then comes back around again, at once fleeting and eternal. A style is in one month and then is never heard of again – until it is heard of again, of course.

The quest for fashionable clothes never ends; it’s just that what is in vogue is always changing.…
