A Celebration of Yoga: For International Yoga Day

Picture
As today is International Yoga Day, I wanted to reflect on everything that is brilliant about yoga, the benefits that it brings to adults and children and how it has helped me over the years. This is the day to celebrate all things yoga!
Firstly, a little bit about my yoga story. I started doing yoga back in 1998 with the help…

What is Fertility Booster Yoga?

When I and my husband decided to have a baby i.e. 6 years ago, I was mentally ready for a baby. But I wanted to be healthier for a healthy baby. I wanted it a perfect pregnancy. I started studying online about preparation for pregnancy. One of the books for pregnancies I read that time, mentioned about special fertility booster yoga. I was already doing some breathing exercises called as Pranayam (Sanskrit word, a term in Yoga). Special Yoga before pregnancy is called as Fertility Yoga or…

A New Moms Wardrobe: The First Year

Back when I was pregnant, I told myself I wouldn't be lazy and wear my pajamas all day when my kid arrived. I would attempt to stay as hip and cool as I was pre baby, which we all know wasn't that cool, so the bar was set low. I would shower everyday, even if that meant at 7pm at night, it would still count...IT WOULD. I would brush my teeth, I would brush my hair, cuz I'm not trying to harbor a gaggle of birds, I would pluck my eye brows, I would, ya know, be hygienic. That's easy enough…

Yoga Bitches

I wrote about the experience I have had dealing with insecurities at my Yoga Class. Maybe there is something to be learned about never comparing ourselves to others and measuring our best against ourselves and no one else!

What are your thoughts on this? Have you had any experiences simular to this? I think it keeps a lot of…

Things I've Learned This Week

** Inadvertently headbutting the door with your forehead is not the best way to open it.

** When a fart rips through your yoga class, you can't help but feel bad for the person who let it slip out.

** Glue guns and Google are two of the BEST inventions on the planet.

** My kids should have to pay labor costs for all the time I've…

Busy moms: September is National Yoga Month

Hello moms:

some of you already know that yoga is good for you, some of you might think that you don't have time for anything, let alone a yoga class. Yes, yoga class would be nice, but you can definitely squeeze 10 minutes every day in your busy schedule, and do a simple yoga exercise at home, while kids are gone to school, or in the evening when they are gone to bed.

Yoga has many health…

Sweaty Elbows

The thing about hot yoga is that you will have sweat coming from body parts you didn't know could sweat.  Like your elbows.  I was a little intimidated by the idea of trying a 75 minute class where I would be sweating while twisting my body into a human pretzel.  I've taken regular yoga classes before.  I can  feel my heart rate go up and blood get pumping in the cooler temps of those classes.  I was a little uncertain if I might be passing out at some point during the class.
