Forks Over Knives: The Movie

We don’t mean to be stepping on our soapbox every time we praise the merits of eating healthy (Morgan Spurlock’s Super Size Me, Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution or Eric Schlosser’s Fast Food Nation and…

Cuff Bracelets for Grads and Dads - Instant Statement

I recently wrote an article about the in-fashion of cuffs for women. Let’s not leave the men out. No matter what their age this one single piece shows that he has style and is not afraid to show it.  They are perfect for both the young and, shall we say, seasoned, men in your life. It's Me-Covery Time!

I love that term. But I can take no credit for it. Me-Covery is actually marketing-speak. It’s a term coined by well-known marketing firm, Saatchi & Saatchi, to describe how consumers are now looking for ways to take care of themselves (a recovery of self), especially following the financial and emotional hardships caused by our Great Recession.

This is a time when we see all the families from this community come together to listen to some great music; everything from from Reggae to Top 40 Hits to Classical and Country. As the children play on the playground,  we spread out our blankets and open our picnic baskets to enjoy a little wine and nosh, as we sit…

In Memory of My Mother I am Going to Plant a Tree

My mother suddenly passed away four years ago and not a day goes by that I don’t think of her and miss her dearly. Losing my mother, even though I was in my 40′s, felt like I was being abandoned. I felt a sense of loss that was so paralyzing. I was left unable to take care of myself or make a single decision on my own. I could not fathom that she was actually gone. I would often pick up the phone on Sunday to call her, since that was our standing phone date after my father passed…
