4 MID-Year Resolutions?! Yep!

With prayer, reading & reflecting, I did something for the first time: established 4 mid-year resolutions. Crazy? Perhaps. But I'm excited how they became crystal-clear thru my life's telescope & now that I found them, I look forward to living them... Listed 'em at my blog,

I've been trying to minimize things. Recently I bought a cheap, small clutch to replace the huge, honkin' handbag I usually schlup around. But I thought, "Why stop at handbags? What else can I minimize?" So this week, here on my blog, I'm gonna give away things that I have, but don't need. Here are two bags. If you want one of them, email me HERE & I'll get it to you. Check…

Sometimes Kids Say Things We Would Never Think Of...

The other day, as we were driving home, my lil mans noticed a sunbeam breaking through a thick mass of clouds. It created such a cool contrast, especially as the beam seemed to dart all the way down to Earth. DJ, my 7 yr old, had a thought on this. Without adding to his words, here's how he explained it:… Continue

I have called you back from the ends of the earth,

saying, ‘You are my servant.’

For I have chosen you & will not throw you away.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.

Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you & help you.

I will hold you up with my victorious right… Continue

If you're perplexed, it's me & my bro, Jason. (I'm the one on the left. And yes, I look like a boy). I wanted to take a blog-sec & say that Jason ("Dude") is 1 cool bro--I would know--I've spent 34 years with him. We have been through alot--together & alone. Today, Dude is a fire…

God keeps me in awe & wonder every time I look at His Earth & the things on it. This hibiscus that bloomed in our front yard made me stop in my tracks & stare. It was so sharp in color. So upright--as if to say, "I'm confident today!" If you aren't feeling God today or you're struggling to… Continue

Now I know I've got a heart, 'cause it's breaking.

For 36 Easters, I've had the privilege of partying & celebrating what Jesus did that no other 'god' can do. Although his body was dead & locked in a tomb, He AROSE from it! A few years ago, I had the huge

privilege of being in my church's Easter Gospel Choir. OK, I probably took it more seriously than most… Continue

My Lil Man's Baptism

Today, DJ got baptized. I was surprised by my emotion & elation as I

watched. It was awesome! To be candid, sometimes as a… Continue

In college--on a diet of beer & fast food--I shot up 6 sizes! After

college, I was determined to not let that happen again. 14 years later, I

thankfully haven't. Today, my determination is even stronger because

I'm ensuring the health of a family. Honestly, God gives me a joy for overseeing my fam's healthy

eating (in our hectic-schedules). Here's a few honest ramblings:

1. I… Continue

My Lil Judas the Betrayer :)

Today, my littlest man had his

Easter play
. He was none other than Judas. We were so proud of him,

as well as all the little actors & actresses. And a huge outpouring of gratitude to Miss Andie, who patiently &

graciously put it all together. It's our honor to have you enjoy this

little slideshow at… Continue

LeadHership in American Idol?

I've always been a "kinda" Idol fan. I kinda watch,

kinda follow, kinda care. There isn't a lot I take from Idol (as I have

the musicality of a brick wall), but I do appreciate the diverse

leadership styles among the judges. It's interesting to see how they
manage… Continue

My Kid's Memory Verses. Agh!

Every week, my 7 year old, DJ, has to memorize a bible verse. As a pastor, it pains me to say this, but he hates it. Tonight, for whatever reason, he was a real bear about it. But one thing that's cool is as DJ learns it, so does the rest of the family. Tonight, I had to laugh, when DJ started crying out of frustration & Andy spoke up & finished the verse for him. Here it is, in case you wanna learn it too:"Don't let anyone make fun of… Continue

For My Brother

Hey Bro,

I am hurting for what you are going through right now. It begs the universal question of, "why do bad things happen to good

people?" I am sorry for the pain that runs deep and the future that is

unknown. But I am writing to let you know that…

A Zit Saga

So Saturday, I noticed a small zit forming. "No

big thang," I thought to myself, "nothing a lil super-acid-compound

can't fix." And because the weekend was narrowly upon me, I decided to

apply about 10 applications of it Saturday night. On Sunday morning, I

woke up to something far from a zit. It looked like a

flaming-zit-inferno. It was 3 times the size,… Continue

Thankful for the Ones Not Like Me

As a mix breed of German, Irish & Italian, I'm about

as cracker-white-American as they come. I was born & raised in a

white 'burb in Middle-America & grew up on a steady diet of hot

dogs, Mac-n-Cheese & Frosted Flakes. I have pasty white skin, blond

hair, green eyes & my name shouts yankee - "Heather Michelle." But

since moving to Florida, God has opened up… Continue

Why the Cuban Has Stayed With Me For 11 Yrs

11 years ago, the Cuban & I said "yes" to become one & today we celebrate 11 years of that. Now we don't make a big, honkin' deal out of our anniversary. Don't make special plans; don't give lavish gifts. To outsiders, it may seem irreverent or unromantic. Not to us. The reason today is like any other--is to us--EVERY day is an anniversary. When you… Continue

Black Friday – it’s Not Just About Fashion

Fashion, eh? It comes and goes, then comes back around again, at once fleeting and eternal. A style is in one month and then is never heard of again – until it is heard of again, of course.

The quest for fashionable clothes never ends; it’s just that what is in vogue is always changing.…
