This recent article on Babble Mom Crunch was most refreshing — and provided a jolly good laugh — for a work-at-home blogging mom like me. Why refreshing? Well, it’s been a beautiful albeit hard-to-define line of work! A lot of people ask me what I do for a living. Somehow, it’s been tricky to define what I do exactly, especially since a lot of people…Continue

What’s a work-at-home mom got to look forward to in the new year? Isn’t life the same as last week (which was, incidentally, last year, too): We’re at home, working from the dining table (for some, in their pajamas)?
Well, if you’re a more-often-than-not-optimist like me, you’ll ring in the new year…Continue

One of the things I deal with as a work-at-home mom is "busy mommy guilt."
I'm sure you know it. It's that nagging, creeping feeling at the back of my mind and that tugging feeling on my heart that tells me I'm neglecting my kid. Just short of three months into the work-at-home mom role, and I am already getting the hang of it. After being in an office job for most of my employee life, I have had to get used to the flexible time schedule and the balancing act of being a wife, mom, homemaker, cook, cleaner and teacher/writer. One of the things I appreciated in my office-based work in the past was the organization aspect of the HR department. It helped keep the quality of my work in check, and helped me to stay on…Continue

I make no claims about being a fabulous mommy. I am new to the job, and I am loving it, but it is damn hard to fill the mommy shoes! Working from home, although much more flexible than an office job, has proven to be quite the challenge. Sure, I am getting the hang of it, and loving the fact that I can spend most of my day with my husband and son. The challenge I refer to is in terms of maintaining some "flair" in the day-to-day; after all, we work-at-home moms are superwomen, right? So we…Continue
