The day I met my second daughter

DECEMBER 2012

I spent the whole month of December praying that Baby S would be late. I was dreading the newborn stage. Plus, we did not know her name at this point (I wanted Scarlet, Eric wanted Fiona, neither of us liked each other's favorite name [I did not want my daughter's name to invoke the image of Shrek!! Like anyone would really think of stunning Fiona from…

The Absentee Blogger Strikes Again

Major blogger/writer fail.

I knew this was going to happen: It's been a month. Procrastination is one of my go-to sins in life.

Being pregnant is a good excuse, right?

Having SPD/almost-broken pelvic bones is a good excuse, right?

Chasing after a 15 month old toddler is a good excuse, right?

Trying to get said 15 month old…

Belly Diaries, Week 23

Busy, crazy, fun, stressful, exhausting, exciting, relaxing. That sums up these past three weeks. We've been on the go with a teething baby and that has been an adventure. I'm not quite sure how molars are supposed to work, but it'd be nice to have a month in between each of Isla's THREE new molars. She's developed a habit of giving me "The Look", which I have been giving my mother for years. Trying to get this girl to smile or eat is hard work!!…

Tutorial: Easy DIY Team Wreath

I've seen team-inspired wreaths on Pinterest and Etsy. They are cute, but can be VERY pricey. Hello, Etsy shop owners? I am not going to drop $80 for a door decoration. I made mine for a total of about $8.30. That's more like it. I'd rather spend the rest of…

Belly Diaries: Week 20: Halfway There

Poor E. We found out this week that he's officially outnumbered 3 to 1. My premonition from March came true: this little kicking babe is a girl. He said he won't be worried unless the NEXT one is a girl, too. (HAHAHA, the next one. He must mean in about 10…

Confessions of a First Time Mother: Two Babies, One Mother, Much Love, Many Meltdowns?

Confession time.

I've written and re-written this post so many times in the past two months, I don't even know where to begin anymore. Do I stay positive, or write what I'm really feeling? Do I pretend I am so overjoyed and excited for every second of every day, or do I admit that I'm terrified half the time? Am I allowed to be excited to be pregnant while DREADING the newborn stage, coming {way…

The (Pregnant) Procrastinator's Guide to Throwing Your Child's First Birthday Party

I am a recovering Pinterest addict. When I first joined the site, I went on pinning rampages (winter in Utah w/ a 6 month old-- what else was I to do?). I ended up with over 3000 pins within a few months, which is maybe, kind-of, I concede, a little excessive. Now I have cut back to 20-30 pins and max 30 minutes a week, I swear, husband. But one of those lovely time-wasting afternoons was spend on Isla's first birthday party. It has to be big! It has to be cute! It has to be…

Belly Diaries: Weeks 11 & 12

My goal is to publish at least three posts a week because I want to do freelance writing for this pregnancy. Let's all have a good laugh right now (I have approx. eight posts in draft, titles only). What energy I CAN summon during the day is spent towards getting out of the house with baby girl & doing something fun, running errands, and/or/sometimes cleaning. I also have been making dinner every night. THIS IS AN ACCOMPLISHMENT. And that is all I can manage.…

EWG Sunscreen Guide 2012: Best for Baby and a Giveaway!

Skin cancer awareness is very important to me. Firstly, I was a cancer registrar for almost 2 years and saw the devastating effects of melanoma, especially in Utah. Utah has the highest incidence of skin cancers because people here are outdoors all year long, and a LOT of these people don't use sunscreen. Secondly, I was a lifeguard for four summers…
