Reading Blogs has opened up a whole new world for me. When Meg, our web designer, asked if we'd like to have a blog as a part of our website we said sure. Not really knowing what a blog really was.
I started asking our vendors to share their favorite blogs with me. I began reading the blogs and found out that each had it's own special niche. Whether it offered special coupons, free merchandise, insight into family events, and other fascinating information. There was a blog for… Continue

When my children were little I started a craft business called Creative Crafts. I taught arts and crafts classes to children ages 4-11. Each 6 week session we explored many craft techniques including: making collages, black and white, color studies, faux painting, book making, we even baked and created"food art". I then hired other moms to teach sewing classes and sketching classes for the older children.
During the summer my mom and I held a music and art camp and incorporated… Continue

It can be quite challenging when your child does things that seem a little different or odd. Very often it is hard for a parent to diagnose a child's behavior. Often a parent will notice behaviors in a child that are different or challenging for your child yet your child's pediatrician isn't with your child for a long enough time to diagnose a situation. It is also common for a parent to hide information from a pediatrician in hopes that the situation is temporary or will go… Continue

It's amazing to me that so many of the retailers that I worked at are out of business. I started as an intern at Gimbels, worked my way up through an executive training program at Alexander's in their Yonkers New York branch. I later worked at Jordan Marsh in Florida. Many of our friends worked at Caldors. And now Linen and Things, and so many electronic and toy stores are going out of business.
It is so important to support our small family owned stores in our communities It's also… Continue
