Hypnobirthing Creates a Calm, Relaxed Environment Making Child Birth More Enjoyable

Hypnobirthing is another child birthing method that was discovered in 1944 by obstetrician Dr. Grantly Dick-Read.  He felt that women could have a safe, easy, relaxed child birth experience by using hypnosis during child birth.  Many women often times will tense up when their contractions start becoming unbearable; instead, of working with their body using breathing and relaxation techniques.

The Bradley Method Helps Women Realize That Their Body Was Designed For Birthing

The Bradley method is another popular birthing technique that is used by many expectant mothers who wish to have an unmediated natural delivery.  This method was developed by Dr. Robert Bradley in the late 1940s.  He wanted women to realize that birthing was a natural process and that many women can give birth without medical intervention or drugs.  Dr. Bradley encourages women to maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating correctly and exercising during…

Lamaze Birthing Classes are Designed to Empower Expectant Mothers

The Lamaze birthing technique is probably the most common child birthing technique that is taught  by hospitals and child birth educators.  This birthing technique was created by Dr Fernand Lamaze in the 1940′s to help women cope with the pain of childbirth.  He felt that women were capable of giving birth without the need of medical intervention.  The goal of his techniques was to empower women and teach them how to cope with child birth pain.

Are Child Birth Classes Necessary for Expectant Mothers?

Child birth classes are designed to provide expectant mothers with information so that moms are prepared for labor and delivery.  Every woman will have a different labor and delivery experience, but the techniques used to help minimize pain and prepare a mother for labor are similar.

I remember when I was a first time mom, I didn’t feel that I really needed to attend a child birth class, I had it in my mind that I was going to have a natural birth and knew how…

Use the Bathroom at Your Own Risk - Elf on the Shelf Post :)

Rascal had a good time playing Wii games after the kids went to school yesterday.  He got rid of his excess energy and crashed just about the time my oldest son got home from school.  Then last night as I was getting ready for bed, Rascal told me good night as he was leaving to head back to the North Pole.

This morning I heard him coming in the back door shortly after I got up.  It was really windy outside this morning and I wanted to make sure that Rascal made it inside safely.  The…

Rascal Likes to Play Video Games Too

Rascal came down from the chandelier after the kids went to bed.  He said that he was ready to go for his nightly visit with Santa Claus.  I don’t know why he was in such a hurry to run off, but it must have been very important to Rascal.

Hopefully, he wasn’t off to the North Pole in search of more sweets, this seems to be his favorite thing to eat.  He must have been out pretty late again last night, because he was sneaking back in just as I was coming out of our bedroom to go wake…

Frosty the Snowman Christmas Ornaments

My son came home from school a few days ago with a paper sack and handed it to me.  He said mom, “this is for you.”  I asked him what about dad, he said,”it was for him too.”  I carefully opened the paper bag and peeked inside.  I pulled out this cute ornament that he made at school for us.

I asked my son how they made it and he told me, so that I could share it with my readers.  It is a simple craft idea that you can easily do with your children.  And it would look cute hanging a few…

Rascal Learns Basic Life Skills From Two Wise Owls

The previous night Rascal had time to make a few bracelets and left a huge mess of beads behind. I decided to move him to the mantel so that the my baby or the puppy wouldn’t get ahold of him.  Again, I placed him up on the mantel so that he can watch the kids.  We have less than a week left with Rascal and I am already getting sad.  He has been a great addition to our family and created a new tradition for my children.

Rascal was excited to go tell Santa Claus that he was able to…

Rascal Gets Crafty and Makes Bracelets

Rascal had to be rescued from the toy box so that my toddler wouldn’t misplace him or play with him.  I placed him on the fireplace mantel so that he could still keep an eye on the kids.  By that evening, he was ready to head to the North Pole to go visit Santa Claus, the other elves, and reindeer.  He left shortly after the kids were tucked into bed and I didn’t hear him sneak back into the house this morning.  In fact, I wasn’t sure if he made it home in time to cause any mischief.…

IMommy App is a Creative Way for Children to Play House Without the Mess

Finding the perfect app on your Iphone, Ipad or Ipod Touch for your toddler, isn’t an easy task.  As a parent you want to engage your child in applications that are fun and educational.  My baby is only 18 months old and I personally don’t have many apps on my phone for him to play with.  I know that he is still fairly young and doesn’t have a very long attention span yet.  I downloaded the IMommy app for my toddler to see if he was interested in playing with my phone.  This app…

Rascal the Dog Groomer

Last night when we went to bed, Rascal told me that he was going to surprise us but he wanted to visit with Santa, the elves, and reindeer.  During the wee hours of the morning, Rascal decided that he wanted to be like the “Elves and the Shoemaker” and do something so that we wouldn’t have to do it.  The next morning when we woke up, I was wondering why the dog wasn’t asleep in her bed.  This is so unlike Katie and I immediately knew something wasn’t…

Rascal is Caught Eating Cookies and Drinking Syrup in the Pantry

After sipping on coffee and eating cinnamon rolls yesterday, I figured that Rascal had enough sugar in his body to last for a few days.  Last night he was bouncing off the walls and running around the house after the kids went to bed.  I figured that I would find him passed out somewhere when we woke up this morning.  But no!  Rascal had other plans.

Rascal Found my Change Jar and Left the Kids a Message This Morning

Rascal took off his diaper late last night and left it laying on the couch.  Thankfully, it wasn’t a stinky diaper.  I also had to help him clean the butt paste (diaper rash cream) off of his nose.  After, I got him cleaned up, he was ready to head off for his nightly visit with Santa Claus.  As usual, I didn’t hear him sneak back into our house.  By now, you have probably figured out that I am a deep sleeper.

Is It Necessary to Tour the Hospital Before You Give Birth?

Many pregnant women don’t think about touring the hospital that they are planning to deliver at; especially, a mom who has given birth before.  When I was pregnant with my first child, I would have never thought about taking a tour at the hospital.  I took a Lamaze class when I was pregnant with my daughter and as a class we took a tour of the labor and delivery ward and learned about the hospitals procedures.

Rascal was Caught Acting Like a Baby This Morning

Last night when I went to bed, Rascal was acting pretty sneaky before he left to go visit with Santa.  He was wondering around the house looking for supplies that he was going to need for his next move.  Rascal found one of my son’s diapers, his wet wipes, and the butt paste (diaper rash cream).
