That time I forgot I had a baby. Okay, ONE of the times I forgot I had a baby.

Towards the end of my second pregnancy, I began searching for a cute diaper bag, preferably one which cost less than my car payment and would dress-up my maternity-jeans and stained tee-shirt postpartum uniform. Also, if I could find a bag with wide enough straps to cover-up one of my leaking breasts, well then, all the better!

Mr. Secret Service Agent Man

Back when I sold real estate, I had a client who was a Secret Service agent. Mr. Secret Agent Man was stationed here in Milwaukee and when President Bush came to visit, Mr. Secret Agent Man asked if we'd like to bring Lexi down to the airport and check-out the presidential fleet of cars and by checking-out the presidential fleet of cars he meant show our daughter duffel bags full of assault rifles and Kevlar vests.… Continue

Some of you may find this technique disturbing...you someones are dead to me.

Last month, the school sent home notes announcing the first quarter parent/teacher conferences were to be held the second week of November. Conference sign-up sheets were at school and we should stop in ASAP and schedule a meeting before all the slots filled up. Since my memory is about as reliable as the pull-out method, I wrote myself a reminder note. … Continue

Must I fix everything in this world?

Last week, Lexi had an assignment which required a poster-board. Actually, it didn’t require a poster-board, notepad paper would have worked too, but it seems like the new generation of teachers prefer everything from a haiku to a spelling assignment completed on poster-board. It’s like these teachers are compensating for something else. You know what they say about a teacher who assigns over sized homework, don’t you?… Continue

That was fun. Now I have to lie down.

So yeah, life. Boy, it can feel like a caffeine-free, Monday morning sometimes, and then other times it can fill up your heart and inspire you to bake pie or open a fun-size candy bar wrapper. Have I mentioned, I’ve officially added fun-size candy bars as a fifth food group since week? Just writing that made me hungry for a Twix bar. You don’t mind if I chew while you’re reading this, do you?… Continue

"A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle."

Heidi and Whitney went as princesses for Halloween, which was cool, although I'd kind of had my heart set on dressing them up in Gloria Steinem costumes. At least they weren't wearing bras. And, I will have you know, these princesses weren't just pretty, but also smart and kind, because that’s what really counts. That and a good credit score. ...Continue… Continue

My new masthead is up!

A small part of the nightly, bedtime routine in our house involves singing a made-up song to Whitney and Heidi. The bigger part of the bedtime routine involves pleading with them to just...get...in...bed...ALREADY! I’d sob hysterically on their bedroom floor, but that would exhaust all my remaining energy reserves I usually earmark for brushing my teeth.… Continue
