Mom Organization Skills 101

There is no greater reward than being a mother, but believe me, for all those expecting moms out there, you sure do have your work cut out for you in order to earn that reward. It was only when I had my second child that I realized, being prepared for any scenario was better…

How Do I Choose the Best Professional Cleaning Service

Keeping your home clean can be an exhausting task, especially if you have to squeeze it in between the chaos and work and keeping your family in line. And if your life feels like it’s nothing but cleaning and tedious chores, perhaps it’s…

How to Keep Your Pool Clean Without Using Chemicals

The weather is getting hotter and hotter, and if you haven’t done it already, you are probably getting ready to open your pool and start the swimming season. Having a pool in your backyard is wonderful, but it requires quite some effort before you…

Surviving Time

Time has a funny way of fixing things. Over time, pain is forgotten, the bad times of the past are blurred, fear evaporates leaving only residue, and only the fading scars are left.

January 31, 1996 was a Wednesday and as I look back and remember the day, there wasn’t much on the world radar screen. A lot of things blew up around the world on this day, especially in Sri Lanka with bombs planted by the Tamil Tigers and trucks filled with explosives being rammed into the Central Bank.…

Duchess Tissue Box

The last couple of days have been really hard for me.  Hunter’s fit throwing is becoming more intense and we really never know when she will explode or if she will slip a knife off the counter and use it.  Colby and I know what we need to do to help her, but it is a small comfort after nights filled with tantrums.

We also got a puppy.  Indigo is a beautiful, energy filled, ball of fur, but she is a smart little Aussie left at home with me all day.  I’ve never had a puppy before.…

A Sexting Failure

There were three things I promised myself I would never write about when I started my blog…first, I would never write about my mother…second, I would never write anything that would cost me a presidential election…and last, I would never write about sex.

Unimaginable

The week before Christmas, I noticed on a friend’s Facebook page that her husband had just suffered a massive heart attack over the weekend. My friend, Duchess Ocean Waves is one of my Ya-Yas, the small group of girlfriends I have know since elementary school. Immediately, I sent out a Ya-Ya alarm to rouse the troops. We all made calls, sent emails, left voicemails, and texted. The Duchess comes from a large extended family and she counts most people in her community as friends. We knew…

Cinnamon Buns

I know you are all aware of my love for spas, and all things spa-like. I imagine Heaven is like Bath & Bodyworks. I can never walk out of this particular store without a heavy bag and a lighter pocketbook.

I’ve also been learning more about essential oils and their healing properties. I have a car diffuser in both of my cars with the essence of lavender calming my daily drive. Apparently, it is so strong my husband could smell it from two cars away in a parking lot. If the wafting…

And the Northern Girls with the Way They Kiss...

It is snowing in Kansas. Finally. I have had to endure the national reports of all my friends as they talked about falling snowflakes, shoveling drives, and building snowmen. Seriously? I think they brag about their white stuff just to make me jealous.

New Year...New Panties

Despite the fact I don’t really make New Year resolutions, there is something fresh about a new year. It’s almost as if the weight and worries of last year have been removed from my shoulders. Like most people, I would like to lose weight, exercise more, spend more time meditating, and make more time with my husband, but why is it we think about all of these things all at…

A Flock of Something

On Monday, I attended a funeral. My stepmother’s mother passed away and I wanted to support her in her loss. The funeral was in Memphis, MO, 230 miles from my home. That translates into a four-hour drive one-way, give or take 30 minute, depending on how heavy my foot is. I decided to drive up for the funeral and drive home all in one day.

NCC-1701

I’ve never really considered myself a trekkie, but I was recently watching the movie, Star Trek, and I was immediately transported back to my childhood at warp speed. I know I am a little behind, but I don’t see many movies in the theater. I had heard the movie was about the original Star Trek characters and how they all came together. I wasn’t…
