Organic Tryouts: Honest Healing Balm

When you hear the word "balm" it should trigger other words in your head like one-for-all, multi-tasking awesomeness, and untouchable.  Have you found a balm that does that?  I've found great alternatives to even my favorite petrolatum products (like Aquaphor- seems there's nothing it can't do), including Burt's Bees Res-Q Ointment which I discussed…

Tattooed and Baby Wearing Momma

We go.

We are always on the go, and I don't like to pack so much "extra just-in-case of the apocalypse" gear.  I don't enjoy those huge strollers that are the width of a regular adult, just to carry a teeny 9 lb. baby and take up loads of space in your car, in the aisle, on the sidewalk.  (Yes, Bambina was an almost 9-pounder and is still happy in her 90th percentile range).  So, I'm a big fan of baby wearing because it's easier for all of us…

Bean Lovin' Baby

We're bringing it back to the roots today; going Honduran meets Puerto Rican style.  One reason I'm a super-excited-about-most-things-foodie type of person, is because I'm of half Korean half Irish/Polish mix.  Another is that my husband is half Puerto Rican and half Honduran.  Imagine the palate our kids have. So, what the heck do we eat for dinner?  Easy, lots of rice.  Lots of seasonings, with some non-healthy fried things in there, and more rice, are our favorites.

When I say…

Pump it Up! - Working Pumping Mom

Yeah, pump it up!  If you're a child of the 80's like me (yes I'm a nerd, and a music nerd)- than this might be the first song that comes to mind and it's totally okay if you sing along:

http://youtu.be/0HtyF0jux2Q

But I wasn't really talking about that type of pumping it up- I'm talking about the working mom! The mom who's gotta nurse her baby even though she works 8-5, kind of pump-it-up.  If you don't nurse, or have boobs, you can…

Dinner Fail with a Montessori BLW trial

I am from a family restaurant background but I'll never be a short order cook- never!  I just don't believe in it and now my family can blame my folks.  My parents owned and managed small restaurants that required tons of hard work, elbow grease, no vacations, zero free weekends, and lots of dish washing.  But oh, did I eat well!

My dad took care of a steak house and my mom took care of a small fifteen table Korean restaurant- so any type of food I wanted, I could plead for, and…

Baby Led Weaning (BLW) Round 2 and 2.5ish

I like to say "round" instead of stage or trial, since we're in this for the long baby led weaning fight.  We'll be patient and we'll be diligent in our efforts.  I say "we" but it is really like a boxing match- it all depends on the other person (in this case: Bambina).  Even though I'm being a rebel by skipping all the purees and cereals, I am taking the usual 3-4 days in between introducing new foods in case there are any funky allergic-like reactions.

Sillyboy, as an infant,…
