As a mom, especially an overprotective mom, I have that need to shield my teens from anything and everything that can hurt them. Broken glass, boxes of twinkies, school bullies, drunken drivers, burning buildings, pubescent boys who only have their penis and girls' boobies on the brain. But how, how do I shield my teenage girls from their father? Continue
How do I…

I was part of the photographic imaging industry for almost 15 years. I'm associated with quite a few people who fall in the roles listed a above. They all have websites. A portfolio of work, accessible through a web address, that their clients and…

The choice to buy a custom domain name
But I have a URL, it's
afterbedtimeblog.blogspot(dot)com. Why the heck should I pay for a domain name and yearly registration, when I'm getting it for free from Blogger? What are you trying to do V? Make money from an affiliate link? Do I look like I… Continue

It wasn't love at first site. Not at all. The first time we hooked up, it was through my old buddy Linkedin. There was an emptiness [in my profile] that needed to be filled. So I submitted. Did some stalking, got stalked a bit and after 3 weeks I got bored. Came across Facebook, Liked it a lot and it was bye bye birdie.
Fast forward, one year later. I hit the… Continue

Yes, I know, among forward thinking, modern bloggers and tweeters who write and share amazing, passionate posts about realities - life struggles, parenting, marriage, careers, physical wellness, entrepreneurial goals - publishing a post about having a ghost can be considered a bit odd, as in strap that crazy chic onto a gurney and roll her behind into a padded room kinda… Continue

. . . I sit there with tears in my eyes and my heart breaking. I love these girls. All I want is the best for them. How can they hate me? How can they turn against me for the sake of "hanging out and dating"? It's not easy to dedicate your life to someone's welfare. I struggled so much for them. True, they didn't… Continue

The Blogger to Wordpress (self hosted) move is a bloody scary leap. When I began considering moving my blog, I did what we all do, I Googled it. I also checked the Blog Frog Communities. Nothing worked for me though. Nothing quite fit.
As promised months ago, I'm going to write my own guide. As a matter of fact, this is it. Or at least part one. Part two should be available… Continue

I feel that when I came to this realization, it brought me mental wellness, it made me see life, my life, in a whole new light.
Recent interactions that lead me to writing this post
My girlfriend Wendy recently said to me, "V, I've got to wonder, how much more does God expect you to take? Is God waiting to see how much it will take to break you or trying to make you stronger?"
A post by my friend Christal:… Continue

How do you control what your kids watch at night?
Make TV watching a public affair.
I'm a mom of two teens and two toddlers. My teens hardly watch tv at night. If they're lucky enough to have homework done by 8, they're too busy chatting with friends or trying to finish a good book before bed. If it's one of those rare nights when they're "free" and feeling like tv, their only option is venturing out of their room to join the family in the family… Continue

In October, after I lost my job, I shared 8 Job Hunting Sites For The Out-of-Work Mom. These were the sites I planned to utilize in my job hunt. I'm still utilizing them. There's been a few leads. On the very few interviews I've had, I came across and chatted with quite a few people.… Continue

I'm a member of TwitterMoms, MBC, Bloggy Moms and Mommy TLC. I read a lot of posts on these social network sites and if I'm interested, I'll follow back to the blogger's website. While there, I'll decide if I want to comment, if I want to tweet, fb like or sign up for RSS feed or an email subscription.
I also post a teaser of my some of my new content on these sites and give people who are interested a link to follow back to my site where they can do a number of things to… Continue

Now, who couldn't use that?
Christmas is days away people. DAYS.
I know this because my 12 year old is counting down every single bloody day.
Has she told me yet what she wants? Nope.
The girl has everything she could ask for, including an awesome mom, so this year, she really doesn't know what she wants.
Know what she's going to do? She's going to leave it up to me and then 3 days before Christmas she'll have her heart set on something that I… Continue

I've thought about that a lot over the weekend, not having anymore kids.
Being pregnant, once you get over the morning sickness and when your ankles aren't swollen, is a beautiful thing. Its a new beginning, it's a time of great love and excitement, shopping sprees and hubby wanting to cook you anything you crave. It's a time to be pampered (which I was) and experience an extra bit of love (which I did get) and be able to push the everyday heavy lifting and hard labor of cleaning and… Continue

First, let me rant provide my opinion.
Let's forget the fact that www.whymilk.com
is smartly pushing articles about Milk helping you lose weight. I say smartly because unlike back in the mid 2000s when the campaigns were outright saying that milk makes you lose weight, www.whymilk.com
's campaign says milk along with calorie reduction and exercise,… Continue

The Dove Self-Esteem Weekend is almost upon us.
This Friday, October 22 to Sunday, October 24th. I have four hours of girl time scheduled with the teens on Sunday. Scheduled, because we'll be baby free. :-D
Painting nails, styling hair, going through the closet and figuring out
what's needed for the winter wardrobe, what's out, what goes together
and just chatting.
It's pretty hard to get things done when there's a 2
years old running around and a… Continue

As I've said time and time again, the awesome thing about being a blogger is the connections made. The chance to meet people you can really relate to and learn from and share a laugh with. In the past few months I've come across great blogs that I love truly. I don't always get to leave a comment and sometimes I just don't have a comment to leave, but I'm always reading in my spare moments. From my Mac at 5am with my cup of coffee, from my iPhone when the munchkins are watching Yo Gabba Gabba,… Continue

Midnight bottle and diaper changes killing your mood?
Non-sound proofed doors making it hard to"live in the moment"?
No where to unwind without teens arguing or toddlers pounding their baby sisters?
I know. Boy, do I know. With 4 kids it's hard to find the time to
not-be-mom and not-be-dad. To just be a woman and her man spending
quality time together.Continued Here.

One of the things that drives me insane about the psoriasis is what it's
doing to my scalp. My head is always dry and tight and when my hair is
down, it feels heavy. As if it's about to fall off by the root. When I
turn my head, and my hair sways, I feel like strands of my hair is being
pulled out. This is one of the reasons I've been keeping my hair in a
bun for so many months. I've try the dermatologist prescribed stuff,
Clobex Shampoo, 4 oz bottle,… Continue
