Cows producing almost-human milk

Isabella Water Giveaway - Plus the CEO is totally a hottie!

I'm so excited to be giving away an Isabella Water bottle on my blog - this socially conscious company is awesome because the proceeds from the sales of the water bottles go to help fund well building projects in Asia and Africa. But beyond that, the water bottle is awesome. I'm totally in love with it. It's stainless steel, BPA free, toxin free, and hey - it's not plastic, so it's not going to make the Great Garbage Patch in the Pacific Ocean any bigger! Want to know another perk? The CEO…

Veteran's Day Post

It's been four years and this is the first time I've really written about it. I was open and honest with my feelings, even though it made my heart hurt. Read it or don't, it's up to you.

This Mom's Secret to Marital Bliss

If you ask your spouse to do something and it's not done yet, do it yourself. It's not worth the time and energy complaining or nagging to get the job done. Not doing the job because of the "principle of the thing" is a great way to put a crack in the bedrock of your marriage. This doesn't mean you have to be a doormat - just don't spend your time and energy on negative feelings, like stress or frustration that something isn't done. If you can't do it yourself without whining and…

Take Back Child Birth

This post caused a mediocre stir on my blog a little bit ago:

Doctors are performing optional cesarean section deliveries when women decide prior to childbirth that they do not want to feel the pain of labor, experience the adventure of pushing or the challenge of delivering a child without medical intervention. It's no secret that doctors and hospitals treat pregnancy as a medical… Continue

He is the Teacher, I am the Student

One of the things that always impresses me and leaves an indent (sometimes literally) about my son is the fact that he is the teacher and I am the student. We were looking through our photographs the other day, and my husband said that one of them was from the time when I was having trouble getting him to nurse. A Thousand Words Thursday

D and his great-grandmother celebrate Thanksgiving. The years she has seen and the piles of children who have grown up to be adults, some even with children of their own, are professed in the lines on her face and the gray in her hair. The exuberant smile, wide eyes and flawless skin with a toothless grin on the nearly youngest in the family tree shows the opposite. Someday we will all wear our years like badges, just like Grandma does. For now,… Continue
