The day you get pregnant, the talk begins about about what you should and shouldn't do, how often you should sleep, what to name your baby, and what kind of car seat to buy. You know you need good nutrition, vitamins, rest and exercise. You need clothes for the baby, a sleeping arrangement and a good pediatrician. You need a swing and diapers. Those things are all (obviously) very important and necessary. But, what about the… Continue

You Know You're a Mom When...
You know you're a mom when.....
...Spit-up has completely phased you. You have learned to rub it in to your clothes if needed.
...You're away from your baby for less than an hour and you miss him the entire time.
...You see poop, like GOOD poop in your child's diaper and you dance the happy dance. You might event take a picture with it on your phone and send it to your husband, family or friends.
...You can… Continue

The AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) recommends no television-or any screen time-for children under two years old. Still, Baby Einstein DVD's are sold with claims to make your children smarter. They claim to teach your child the ABC's and how to count to 20. They claim to be good for your kids, fun and educational.
Because sitting your 9 month old in front of the television for thirty minutes while their brain and mind is so overstimulated that they won't and can't respond to… Continue

Halloween (ThanksgivingandChristmas!!) is almost here!
Do your children participate in Halloween activities? Does your family celebrate this Holiday?
We don't really.
The closest decorations I get to Halloween is Candy Corn and pumpkins which to us are Fall decorations. I did dress up in High School of course, because that was the cool thing to do. But, since I've became an "adult" and moved out of my parents house, I've never dressed up or passed out candy to… Continue

In today's world, almost every product created for children is just that, already created. The place to grow, imagine and be creative is hard to do when an opportunity isn't available. A paint by numbers coloring book tells you exactly where to paint and with what colors. Step by step instructions on how you should paint. A doll is already dressed in perfectly matched clothes with matching accessories. A building is already created, all is left is to add your men. The baby toy is complete with… Continue

ody is estimated to be 60% water, which if you think about that in terms of your body as a whole- 100%-then 60% of your body being made up of water is quite a bit. In fact, that's downright a huge portion of what your body is made of. Water is essential to thrive, grow, and function in life. Without water, we would die. So many organs in our bodies are made up of water (the brain is 80% water!) that we simply need water for those organs to function properly and to their full… Continue

see what everyone is saying- great responses and so helpful! :) www.mamanotes.com
I hope ya'll can help me out today because I have a few questions!
1. How do you bathe your children? Up until recently we always took showers with Lucas. It was the easiest and Lucas seemed to like it. We only used the baby bath thing for a few days after he was born- he hated it! Now I think he would enjoy a bath better because it would allow him to play, but we haven't figure out the best… Continue

Monday is here again! Time to look back on the week and see how we've done, along with set new goals for the week ahead! I started running with Lucas last week and I'm loving it. We have some nice trails (smooth paths, really) around here and the weather has been so perfect. I also lost a pound, and I'm happy to say that I've lost all my baby weight! It's funny how your body really does change after having kids. I can say that I'm back to where I was weight wise pre-pregnancy, but I definately… Continue

I've been talking with a lot of people about strollers lately. It seems like we're always trying to figure out what the best stroller is. And really, I think it depends a lot on what your needs are. Do you wear your baby most of the time and you just need a small stroller for rare occasions? Do you go on long walks every day with a stroller? Do you run with a stroller? Do you have more… Continue

Let me re-phrase the question. If you're running into the store 'real quick,' do you leave your kids in the car? If you're just running up to the door of a friends house, do you leave your child in the car? What about if you pull up to a 7-11, the baby is sleeping or the kids are behaving well, do you run inside real quick and just keep the car locked?
I want to know.
Do you feel like it's safe to leave your kids in the car for any amount of time at all? Or do you always,… Continue

One of the first things my husband and I always thought of when we had the "baby talk" was how expensive babies are. How many things they need, how much it all cost, and how little money we have to buy all these things. We thought we couldn't "afford" a baby.
Wrong. Besides the basic necessities - clothes, food, car seat, diapers- babies really don't need a whole lot. The baby industry is huge, and many things are completely unnecessary. Having a baby certainly doesn't have the bank,… Continue

Every Monday on Mama Notes, we come together to talk honestly about are bodies after having babies. It sure does change things doesn't it? Unless you're one of those gals born with perfect body and have stayed the same size since high school. Your body is different now that it's carried a child. Maybe your hips are wider, your skin is looser, or your muscles are weak. You're carrying an extra 5 pounds, an extra 30 pounds. You might have red stretch marks that make you feel self conscious. A… Continue
