Remembering September 11, 2001

This is a post I wrote for Charleston Moms Blog.  I am honored and humbled it was chosen to be shared on our national sister sites.

As September 11th approaches please take a moment and remember all of those that vanished.  Please remember the First Responders that bravely and courageously acted without pause...this post is in honor and memory of them.  God Bless.…

Have you ever found yourself waiting?  Maybe you're waiting for medical news?  Maybe you're waiting for that proposal?  Maybe you're waiting for change?  Wherever you find yourself waiting, it's hard.

I always thought I was a patient person, but lately when I have to wait it becomes an inner struggle.  I tell myself to have faith and to leave it there.…

Out with the old, in with the new

Welcome 2016!  Happy New Year everyone!  I don't know about you but I enjoy this time of year and hearing people's New Year resolutions.  Are you the type that makes resolutions with optimism or are you the type who doesn't want to set yourself up for any kind of failure?

I guess I fall somewhere in the middle.  I do make resolutions, but a lot of…

What do you Hope for this season?

It's hard to believe it's December and we are almost into the second week of Advent.  For our family, Advent is a time to reflect, prepare and pray about Jesus' love.  A big part of celebrating Advent is thinking about the Hope you have in your life and how to make it…

Let your faith be bigger than your fear

With the events of the past few days it is easy for us to become paralyzed with fear.  For many it brings back memories of September 11, 2001 and the horror our country faced that unforgettable day.  As my husband and I sat and watched the news on Friday evening it brought back so many fears and questions.

As a parent, I wondered how to tell my children or…

Fostering an Attitude of Gratitude in our Families

With the holidays approaching and Thanksgiving right around the corner, this is a great time to teach our children how to be thankful.  When I first became a parent, I thought my child would learn with ease how to not only say “thank you” but also be thankful.  Ahem…I have to say, it didn’t seem to come as easy as I thought it should.  When I began to hear myself repeating “Say, thank you” or “What do we say?” after someone would give my daughter a gift or do a nice act for her, I…

Won't You Be Your Daughter's Best Cheerleader

We were out for a Mommy-daughter day.  With three girls my husband and I try hard to spend one on one time with each of them as we can.  Today, was my day with my seven year old.  We ran some errands and had a nice lunch together.  Then, she was able to pick her last activity.  She wanted to go shopping for a new dress.  So, off to the store we went.…

When small things feel hard

Have you had a day when it was hard to get out of bed?  I'm not talking literally, I mean physically IT HURTS TO MOVE.  I recently (like last week) had a laparoscopic procedure.  I'm filled with joy to say everything went well.  Although, for a few days it hurt to move.  It was uncomfortable to sit, to lie down and to walk.  Well, I don't know about your body but I'm not sure what other positions my body expects me to be in!

I'm starting…

Hello!!!  Happy Thursday to you!  I hope everyone is finding themselves enjoying this beautiful day.  I love FALL.  I have said it before and I will say it again, I LOVE FALL!!!  The weather here is still a bit warm in the afternoon, but oh!!!  the mornings are just perfect, cool and crisp.  Even the girls walk outside to go to school and say, "It's beautiful today or I like the cool air."

While driving my 4 year old to preschool this morning she said something…

In Awe

I am sitting here watching my sweet little 4 year old sleep.  She is home sick from school.  She woke up in the middle of the night not feeling well, then had an upset belly this morning.  I'm sure most parents feel this way when their little one's don't feel well.  It's such a helpless feeling.  Even though we give all the snuggles and love we can, sometimes they still feel terrible.  It is heartbreaking to watch your child be in any sort of discomfort.

Please don't grow so fast

While each stage of parenthood has with it a level of excitement, I can't help but to be a little sad watching the girls grow.  Oh, and growing so fast they are!!!  When we came home from the pool today we had some much needed quiet and down time.  Mostly we were hoping Sofia would nap.  It never happened though.  Boy, does that little one have endless energy!  The girls had to choose between one hour of TV time or quiet play in their room.  Of course they chose TV, shocker right? …

When Saying Goodbye Leads to Saying Hello

Our vacation is coming to a close and it is starting to stir up emotions.  I am sad to be leaving our family; sad to be leaving the beach house; and sad that summer break is almost over.  On the other hand I am happy to be going home to my bed.  Nothing is better than your own bed.  I am also looking forward to a routine and the FALL weather :-)

It has been a wonderful vacation.  We managed to fit a lot in during our two weeks.  We frequented the beach almost…

If you fall off, try again

When we were teaching our one daughter how to ride her bike without training wheels we all learned a lesson.  When life pushes you down, you get back up and try again.  Learning to ride a bike can be scary, frustrating and difficult.  Once you learn though, it is a life time task.  You never forget how to pedal your feet and keep your balance.  Don't we wish that was true for other aspects of our lives?  It feels like when something bad happens, we easily lose our "balance."  We fall…

Listening Walk

Life is hard…we all know it.  We all live it every day.  If your life is not what you want it to be then it is up to YOU to change it.  Right???  I think so.  Yes, we all need help from time to time, but no one is really going to do the nitty gritty hard work but yourself.

Life is unfair too.  We learn that from the very beginning.  I always hear parents telling their children to play fair (I do it myself), but then I think…well, there are no promises that…

Black Friday – it’s Not Just About Fashion

Fashion, eh? It comes and goes, then comes back around again, at once fleeting and eternal. A style is in one month and then is never heard of again – until it is heard of again, of course.

The quest for fashionable clothes never ends; it’s just that what is in vogue is always changing.…
