Easy Buffalo Chicken with a Ranch Salad

So last night, after spending the entire day with an infant that refused to be put down, even for a second, because he wasn’t feeling well I was at a loss as to what to make for dinner. All that screaming really did a number on my ability to thinkclearly. Since I had taken out some chicken to defrost I did the only sane thing I could think of: I started pulling ingredients out of my pantry to come up with a recipe. I really…

A Fussy Baby Makes for a Long Thursday

Today has been a long day. My brain hurts from coping with a fussy baby. And mama could really use a nap.

1. I am officially obsessed with the Hershey’s Kisses Mint Truffle flavor. I bought them for some cookies that I was going to make this weekend. But I might just end up eating all of the kisses before then. Oops!

2. Have you started thinking about New Year’s? My lovely girl Laura and I were…

Purely Scrumptious: Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

If you’re wondering about the recipe for those homemade mini cinnamon rolls I made over the weekend that were on Twitter, you’re in luck: today I’m going to give you the recipe. And you’re going to LOVE it. Know why? Because everybody loves cinnamon rolls. Especially when they’re as scrumptious as these. And just in case you were…

DIY Christmas: An Elegantly Simple Christmas Tree

Over the Thanksgiving weekend – ok, ON Thanksgiving – we put our Christmastree up! And yes – that would be a nine foot tree in an eight-and-a-half foot space. Since we went with the faux tree, I was able to bend the top pine sections of the tree down, and ultimately covered them with a big ribbon – and now you can’t even tell that the tree was too tall for the space!

When it comes to tree decorations, I am truly of the notion that the…

The Best Banana Bread You'll Ever Make

love baking. Which you can probably tell by all of my Instagram/Twitter/Facebookphotos and all of my recent recipe posts. But one thing that I really love baking is sweet breads. They’re tasty and satisfy…

I Haven't Left The House Since Last Thursday.

1. I planned on going out this weekend to take advantage of some Black Friday weekend deals. I really did. And then I didn’t leave the house. I literally have not been outside of my home since Thanksgiving night. And you know what? I’ve been loving every minute of it.

2. I can’t stop sweating. It’s like…

A Simply Delicious Chocolate Cake to Make Your Holiday Gathering Shine

You know it as well as I do: the holidays are a time for amazing desserts. But amazing doesn’t have to mean difficult – after all, there is something to be said for simple elegance, am I right? Of course I am. The other day I was perusing the aisles of my local Super Target (aka my favorite grocery destination besides Sam’s Club) when I happened upon their monthly coupon packet. Where they had some amazing recipe suggestions,…

The Turkey Testicle Festival—aka Your Daily Dose of Weird

Turkey testicles are a food group that rank right up there with bull balls—as something that no one in their right mind would willingly want to put on their plate. But a pub in Huntley, Illinois has been challenging that thought with their annual Turkey Testicle Festival.

The bar and restaurant ordered up about 1200 of these not-so-appetizing delights from a turkey farm in Michigan—which they then breaded and deep fried to serve like buffalo wings to the hoards of hungry people who…

Lucy's Favorite New Hang Outs

Lucy has officially become the protector of my child. She loves being anywhere close to him – and when he’s sleeping, he loves taking over his play space. I think she’s trying to tell us that she misses him when she can’t be right next to him…

He’s all – I fell asleep while I was playing. And she’s all – wake him and I will wrestle you to the ground. Although she does know that she’s not allowed on his blanket. At least not while he’s playing sleeping on…

Spicy Chicken Crock Pot Tacos

Yes, I’ve told you guys that I love the Frontera seasoning packs before. But seriously, they’re awesome! They’re tasty, fresh and make cooking tacos super easy. I made this recipe the other night and am totally in lurve with it. I even had the leftovers heated up on little tea buns and they were awesome. And if there’s one thing I love, it’s a recipe that I can enjoy a couple of different ways – because all the leftovers get eaten!

To start, add two…

DIY Christmas: Garlands Add Some Sparkle to Your Life (The Indoor Version)

Yesterday, I showed you guys our outdoor garlands. Well – I showed you one of ouroutdoor garlands. Since I still don’t have an extension cord to plug them in, I really don’t have a completely finished project to show you. But all in due time, my friends: the hubs is working on re-organizing the garage. Which means that I should have an…

Happy Day After Thanksgiving - From the Eyes of a Baby Mama

Happy day after Thanksgiving! Yesterday, we gave thanks. This morning, I sat around and appreciated two of the things I’m thankful for (besides my amazing hubs): my little moose and my big moose. Aka RJ and Lucy. The three of us sat around – well, these two slept and mama worked, but still: we did it from the couch. My plan was to brave Black Friday around ten – because there were some awesome little shoes I wanted to pick up for the little guy – but then it snowed last…

DIY Christmas: Time to Hang Some Garlands - The Outdoor Version

Now that Thanksgiving is over and you’re home from all that Black Friday shopping, you know what you want to do. No, not take a nap. Not wrap all those holiday gifts. You want to decorate for Christmas, duh! And where better to start than by putting up some garlands. Right? I thought so.

Let’s start with the outdoor ones first – since it’s freezing in the frigid tundra today, you probably want to get these out of the way first!

I have two banisters on our front…

DIY Christmas: An Artsy Entryway Tree

Every entryway needs a little holiday cheer. But not every entryway has a lot ofspace for an full on Christmas tree. Which is where sticking some sticks in a vase can come in handy. Ok – this is a little more involved than just tossing some sticks in a vase. But to be honest, it’s not that much harder than it sounds! Before you start, you’re going to need a variety of “sticks” from the floral section of the craft store (all of mine other than the skinny gold ones…

Lose the Baby Weight: Ab Exercises to Tone Your Tummy

So yesterday I told you guys that I’ve become an abdominal exercise fiend: not because I actually enjoy doing these workouts, but because they’re totally necessary to getting rid of that spare tire that appears after the baby makes his way out of your belly. So I’ve taken some ideas from my barre dvds and turned them into their own little workout – for integrating with my living room circuit or after doing some cardio. Feel free to interchange the…

Help The Victims of Hurricane Sandy by Hosting a Touchstone Crystal Jewelry Party

Thanksgiving is almost here. And while we’re all giving thanks – and thinking about all of the awesome Black Friday sales to take advantage of after the turkey’s been eaten – there are people on the East Coast whose lives have been devastatedby Hurricane Sandy. These people are struggling to just get their lives back to some kind of normal – much less worrying about what presents they can get at a discount on Friday.

I got an email the other day…

Pulled Chicken BBQ Sandwiches - Super Duper Easy!

I am starting to think of myself as slightly obsessed with my crock pot. Oh well. Myobsession is your gain, my friends! This is one of my go-to recipes, because wealways have the ingredients on hand and it’s super duper easy to make! You’re going to need a total of three things: your crock pot, some chicken and your fave bbq sauce. We go through a lot of the stuff at our house – and tend to buy in bulk.…

Two Months Post-Partum: Getting Back to Pre-Pregnancy Jeans

I feel like getting back into my “normal” jeans is a never ending task. Basically, I fit in them. But I fit differently in them. My tummy is getting flatter by the day (thanks to the much hated ab work I’ve been doing), but everything still feels like it’s in a different place than it was before I got pregnant. And I still feel that little pooch below my belly button. BUT: I do feel a lot better and – at least I can fit into my jeans again…
