Whispers along the Wissahickon
Not your average fall festival, Whispers along the Wissahickon fits in all the fun stuff but also manages to sneak in some environmental tips for the next generation. This jam-packed evening takes place at the Wissahickon Environmental Center and is perfect for a family-friendly Friday night!

(Additional) Slot Car Racing on the Scalextric Tracks at Main Line Hobbies
Vroom into your weekend with a little slot car racing on the Scalextric tracks at Main Line Hobbies in East Norriton. At $10 for the first 30 minutes per each rented car (and $5 for that time period if you bring your own racer), this is an affordable – and accident-free – way to satisfy your kiddos’ need for speed on an otherwise mundane afternoon.

The Harvest Festival at Reading Terminal Market
Hayrides and apple cider are a given, but what about seasonal fruits, fall vegetables and locally-produced cheeses? Take advantage of this opportunity to celebrate the harvest and teach your family about the wonders of farming at Reading Terminal Market’s free Harvest Festival.
• Time: 2:15 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.

(Additional) The Peoplehood All-City Parade and Pageant
We all love a parade, and the Peoplehood All-City Parade and Pageant unites more than 3,000 citizens to “celebrate community, diversity and the challenges and triumphs of life in Philadelphia.” Organized by the Spiral Q Puppet Theater, the parade starts at the Paul Robeson House, and the pageant takes place in Clark Park. Enjoy being a spectator this Saturday!
• Time: Parade: starts at 1:00 P.M.; pageant: starts at 2:30 P.M.

A Trip through the Corn Maze at Springdale Farms
Get lost with your little squirts in a labyrinth of sweet corn at Springdale Farms’ Corn Maze in nearby Cherry Hill. Shaped like a giant tractor and packed with farmers’ clues and puzzles, this outdoor jungle of corn will keep your kids enthralled (and entangled) from start to finish.

(Additional) AIDS Walk Philly at Eakins Oval
Whether you walk or merely watch, the AIDS Walk Philly is the area’s largest annual HIV/AIDS public awareness and fundraising event. Each year, thousands of people, including celebrities and community leaders, participate in a walk-a-thon and 10K run to battle the disease. Show up at Eakins Oval at 7:30 A.M. and prepare to spend your Sunday supporting an important cause.
