What does it take to get a kid to read a book just for the fun of it?

The syllabus for WK’s English class includes some great books and novellas – “The Pearl” by John Steinbeck, Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allen Poe, and one of my lifelong favorites “To Kill a Mockingbird,” by Harper Lee.

These tales are full of suspense, danger, crime and intrigue – perfect reading material for a young male. It’s like pulling teeth.
