A Cook Book Review: Jamie's Food Revolution

I have a LOAD of cookbooks.  I love to cook, I think it is fun.  Typically I find a few recipes in each cook book that I like and the others don't really interest me too much.  Not so with Jamie's Food Revolution: Rediscover How to Cook Simple, Delicious, ....

Jamie Oliver

I Love This Book Because

I love almost all of the recipes in this book.  I love this book, more than any other cook book I currently have and more than any other cook book I have ever seen before.  Here is why:

1.  Jamie has created a book with recipes from  many different countries, many different types of food.  His book contains European, Indian, Asian, Moroccan and good ol' American recipes.  The food is delicious.

2.  Jamie Oliver uses this book to TEACH other how to cook.  Many of his recipes include a base and then you add to it what you wish from there.  For example:  Jamie has a recipe for basic stew that he makes into a chicken, pork, beef or Lamb.  Then he shows you how to take each stew and make it into a basic  pie, a dumpling stew, a scalloped potato dish, and a shepherd pie.  Brilliant!  One recipe 16 different dishes.

3.  His recipes are all made with the highest degree of nutrition in mind.

4.  Mr. Oliver has created a cook book that meets the needs of a busy family.  He teaches how to create many different meals that are easy to make and kid friendly and family healthy and economical.  I really love this book!

Take The Pledge and Pass It On

In his book, Jamie has asked that each reader learn one recipe from each chapter of the book. Then he wants us to pass the recipes on to two or more friends and teach them how to cook them.  He asks us to sign a pledge to do so.  I have signed that pledge.  There are 14 chapters .  Each month I will share one recipe from each chapter with you on my blog.  Try them at home and share them with your friends and family. However, I urge you to take the pledge as well.  Buy the book, learn a recipe and have a party to share it with your friends and family, or just pass it along.  Soon we really will have created a food revolution and our families with be healthier.

I have not been asked to write this review, nor have I been compensated in any way.  I choose to write this review because after picking this book up off the shelf on a whim I found that I love it.  This cook book does indeed deserve to be shared and I hope you will take a peak.   Whether you love Jamie Oliver, like I do, or hate his guts (like a whole lot of people do) this book is a fantastic addition to any kitchen library. I bought this book for 24.99 off the shelf but you can pick it up for around 16.00 at Amazon.  It is worth every penny and more.

Giving One Away

Have I said that I really love this book?  I really do and I think you will too. That's why I am giving one away.  Just leave me a comment with the name of your favorite healthy recipe before Thursday at midnight on my blog here:

If you would like me to post your recipe on my blog then feel free to email me the recipe at  Just put "recipe" in the Subject line and preferably attach a photo of yourself (optional).  I will post the recipe with full credit given to you.

I will randomly draw the winner for the cookbook on Friday.  Enjoy!
