Oooooooooooh, what we go through to have our little bambino’s…

These Bambino’s…

They are perfect, aren’t they?

But let’s be honest about one thing…

They MESS. OUR. MAMA. BODIES. UP.

To date, I haven’t had one ‘smooth’ delivery or postpartum experience.  And what amazes me is that I (we) continue to have more kids!  We know what we get out of it; our precious bundle of joys that melt our hearts and fulfill our purpose in life.  Right?  Every mama I talk to, horror stories and all, go through it; the pain, the postpartum recovery time, the body problems, aches and pain and somehow, in the midst of it we think, ‘I’ll never do this again.’ and we do.  We forget.  We get strong again.  We heal.  We recover… most of the the time.

If you follow us on Facebook, you may have seen my recent post about the left side of my body going numb a few days after we got home from the hospital.  So this is a mama update of my 3rd C-Section experience.  A few days ago, I had a headache throughout the entire day that wouldn’t go away even with my heavy prescription meds in me.  I then started experiencing pain in my spine… exactly where I had my spinal block put in for my C-Section.   The spinal pain got worse throughout the night and literally felt as if I was sitting on the operating table and the anesthesiologist was putting my spinal block in my spine again.  I called a few times to report this but no one seemed alarmed and told me to give it a couple of days.  By 9pm, I called it a day and headed upstairs to bed.  After 5 minutes of laying on my back, I attempted to turn to my side and couldn’t.  The left side of my body was numb.  NUMB.  I could not turn or move.  I touched my stomach, my thigh, my hip… nothing.

I panicked.

Within a few minutes of hitting my thigh and focusing on moving my body, I could wiggle my toes and the feeling in my leg came back (tingly).  Needless to say, we rushed back to the hospital, infant in tow.  They gave me an MRI that showed no permanent spinal damage but I definitely have nerve damage.  I left the hospital feeling the same way I did when I went in… Numb on one side.  I was told that I need to see a physical therapist or a chiropractor for more answers.  As of now, I don’t have answers and I’m trying to stay positive.  This is completely freaking me out because I’m still in unaware of whats going on and how long it will take to have feeling in my left side again.  I’m trying my best to not let my mind wander into ‘bad territory’… Its easier said than done.

As for our new little guy, Mario and Life with 3 Boys…

Our Mario is perfect.  Such an awesome baby and the sweetest thing ever; I’m madly in love.  I didn’t think it was possible to fall in love again and again, child after child but you do.  I do.

Life with 3 is just what I thought it would be too.  While it really hasn’t ‘started’ yet since I’m down and on heavy meds, I have a feeling it will be just fine.  Life is already busier with 3, there’s never a dull moment but I love to be busy and I love filling our home even more!

Rocco & Roman are obsessed with their baby brother too which has been a great transition from 2 to 3.  Rocco has to be in Mario’s face at all times and loves to take pictures with him…

And Roman is my little helper!  He likes to get blankets and put them on top of Mario, he likes to put the pacifier in his mouth… that’s bigger than his face ; ) And he loves the diaper changing process.  Seriously, it’s his favorite part of this whole ‘baby thing’.

And that’s life right now!

If you pray, please say a little prayer that my spinal & nerve recovery is fast and I’m able to run around and care for our 3 little guys in no time.

Fear be gone too… We’re Strong Mamas…
