When we were visiting friends a few weekends back in Chicago, I noticed they had a great toilet seat with a built in potty chair.  The Church NextStep Toilet Seat is available at your local big box hardware store or online through Amazon and the like and runs about $35.  It's great because the potty chair for the kids is a magnetized insert into the lid of the toilet.  It comes in both round and elongated bowls.  It's pros would be less clutter and discussion about where an appropriate space to store a potty chair really is.  And like our friends (whose daughter is only 5 months old right now), you could replace your toilet seat at anytime and be ready to practice.  A drawback may be that you cannot take it with you when you visit grandma & grandpa...but at least your little guy or gal will have real-toilet experience when on the road!

Another clutter-free friendly option may be theBecoPotty, a potty chair made from bamboo waste and rice husks that will biodegrade when buried in your yard.  Yep, that's right, a biodegradable potty chair.  The BecoPotty is available through a variety of online retailers as from eco-friendly baby sites to Amazon.com.  They run around $20 plus shipping.  They ergonomically designed and have a high back to prevent splashing.    The website claims that you can use this potty through several children and that it will not breakdown until buried.  This product definitely appeals both to my mommy side and my eco-friendly side...but then there is that nagging question of where to keep the potty.
