The other day we were at the park. And the boys were having absolute fits. They didn’t see some of their homeschool friends, from Virginia Beach Homeschoolers for ASD, a group I started with another homeschooling mommy, who has two boys with ASD as well. It’s a weekly ritual that we play together, and if you know anything about children with ASD, they don’t care too much for unexpected changes. Honestly, I knew they wouldn’t be there on account of the homeschooling convention, but I totally forgot…. as usual.
Ok, enough about that, back to the boys.
So, of course there was plenty of tears, screaming, whining, and mopping going on. I tried my best to get them to play, but it just wasn’t happening. So, as I was thinking about leaving another family sat down beside us. We started discussing about our family dogs, gluten free, and homeschooling. Gabe & Zeke were happy, they found another little boy who loved star wars-nerf wars. Not really a game, but something they have made up, and play non-stop.
Gabe finally noticed the mother, we’ll call her Mrs.Irish, I wished I remembered names, but I don’t. He looks up from under the table/base and yells. “Hey you… Do you know that you are whhhhiiiteee?!” She looks at me with one eyebrow up. .....
