Before the Husband gets Home- The Quick Makeover

My grandmother (married 59 years) was giving out advice at my sister’s bridal shower and it made me reevaluate my life.

“Your husband goes to work everyday with women who look nice. He shouldn’t come home and you look a mess.”

Now let me start by saying for the past 2 3/4 years I’ve been married, I haven’t really cared too much about my appearance. I’m not saying I walk around looking like “who shot John?”, but usually after work (back when I was working) it was only natural to kick off the heels and step into some sweats.

I stayed in shape so I knew that I hadn’t let my body go, but after being an athlete for so many years, I just became a fan of relaxed apparel. I realized that I needed to start dressing a little better after having my son and staying in nursing tops and yoga pants all day. Yes they were oh so comfortable, but not the best looking.

After hearing what my grandmother said I decided it was time to make more of an effort.  I can stay in my pajamas all day, but come 5:30 it’s time for a makeover.

So ladies, here are quick ways to clean up 5 minutes before your husband walks through the door.

  1. Ditch the hair wrap- Yes this item is essential, especially at night, and wear it all day if you want but before the husband comes in, take it off and stow it.
  2. Comb or brush your hair- It doesn't take too much effort and it’s done in under a minute. Plus it makes a HUGE difference!
  3. Apply makeup essentials- Most women have their staples. You really don’t even need that much, just a little to enhance. I’m a lip/eye person, so usually some lip gloss and eye liner will do the trick. If you are a blush mascara combo- do what you do!
  4. Change clothes- If you are still in pj’s or super comfortable not attractive clothing, throw on some jeans and a decent top. You don’t have to don a dress. Just make it look like you did something that day besides lounge around in the house.

If you think about it and the shoe was on the other foot, would you want to come home to this?

Or this?

He looks like he showers. And thats a good thing!
