The first thing you need to do is rest. Take a day off from work at the initial stages or else you’ll probably have to take a week off. Second, the traditional chicken soup. The soup I make is quite exceptional as I put more than a dozen things on it: Chicken, carrots, pumpkin, potatoes, corn on the cob, sweet potatoes, cassava, sweet plantains, red bell pepper, onions, garlic, olive oil, white vinegar, etc. Hot teas with lemon and honey are great. Echinacea is recommended. I personally don’t like it and I get all my C’s from an orange a day. Yes of course, you need to stay off sugar. That might be hard for people with a sweet tooth. Try honey instead until you feel better. Some people recommend cleaning your system or fasting. Funny, my husband got very sick with a cold while doing that. I would recommend having your chicken soup and eating well even if you are not hungry. After you feel better, then you can clean your system. You are already weak, what would you starve yourself? Again, that’s my personal opinion. All the people I know who eat well while having a cold do better than those who stop eating. One thing I would recommend is walking outdoors a little each day so that your body will get accustomed to the hot temperature outside. Drastic changes in temperature may lead to severe colds. For coughing, there is a nice syrup called “JENGIMIEL” 100% natural made with honey and ginger. I have used it in the past and it works well. Tylenol Cold Non drowsiness is good for symptoms such as low-grade fever, minor aches and pains, nasal congestion, headaches, cough, etc. You will find Tylenol Cold in almost every single pharmacy. I have used Nightquil in the past many times and it works well for me. However, I have to admit I get really dizzy. Now, I prefer 2 or 3 days dizzy than a whole week feeling miserable. That’s up to you, the brand you pick. Good luck!
