Blue Motorcycles, Cabaret and a Hot Brown

Blue Motorcycles. Pretty...lethal. Maybe the fact that they were green shoulda been a warning???

I'm pretty much a homebody when it comes to going out. When I go anywhere, I'm usually also packing two kids, so my options are limited. I also just sometimes feel like 29 is just too old to be going to the club and all that silliness (mostly because I'm just not that cool).

But occasionally mama has to get away. And no matter what whoever has to say about anything, I'm gone. I've been a good mama. I deserve a blue motorcycle. So I call up my crew and we roll out. Okay I know that was lame. But I also just told you I'm not that cool, so what did you expect? Also when I say crew, I mean my sister-in-law and my two nieces. And before you gasp with disbelief that I hang out with my nieces, we are close enough in age to actually be sisters. So there. Don't judge me. Plus I'm pretty sure they agree to hang out because they like to watch old people act a fool or something.

Moving on...

Our latest attack gathering was at Anabelle's in New Bern, NC. I felt a little sorry for the waitress as soon as we arrived, because I knew what was about to entail. She didn't. Poor thing. First order of business? Drinks....duh. To be honest, the drink options were a little lame, so we all ended up with blue motorcycles. Boy were those a bad choice. You'll find out why a little later in this post.

There was also a cabaret singer. I mean the most typical, slightly annoying type of cabaret singer at that. But at least he was cute. And one of my nieces decided she had a crush on him. So after each of us downed two of those really nasty, really, really strong blue motorcycles, we were hollering down requests from the top floor and eventually had him out of pants. Just kidding. But we did manage to woo him up to our table with all of our under-the-influenceness (yeah, I know that's not word). He even invited us to another show he was in.

"Mmmm....hmmm baby..."

The hot brown I ordered was ok. It wasn't good enough to actually be relevant in this post. But to be fair, Anabelle's typically has awesome food.

And in case you were worried, there was a designated driver, whom I sure we annoyed with our cackling and loud singing.

I'm not exactly sure what the moral of this story is. I suppose I want to let other WAHM or SAHM and even moms who work outside of the home know that it's ok to break away. You don't have to have a blue motorcycle. Do whatever makes you happy. But just don't let anyone, not even yourself, make you feel guilty about needing the time away.

Do you guys have girls' nights out? What do you typically do?
