Symptoms to Take Notice of in Children

The NHS has been facing ever-increasing pressures in recent years, with slashed budgets, staff shortages and lack of resources taking its toll on the quality of care. One of the many ways we commonly see the impact of these pressures is in waiting times for GP…

Mother of the Bride Guide

The day you’ve dreamed of for years has finally arrived! Your little girl is all grown up and has chosen a partner to start her life with, and you are officially a MoB -- Mother of the Bride! While congratulatory remarks are appropriate at this juncture, so are a few…

How to Through A Larger Than Life Small Wedding on a Budget

This one is as simple as crowdfunding your honeymoon. It might sound strange at first, but do you really need another blender or set of dinner plates? Instead of having your guests purchase a bunch of things you’ll end up trying to return anyway, why not let them chip in for…

By Marianna, Green Mama’s Pad

When I started on my green journey, one of the first things I changed was all of our personal care products. Everything from shampoo to body wash to lotion. I learned that all of the items we were using were loaded with chemicals that were not doing us any good. Some of the dangerous ingredients you will find on traditional products are formaldehyde, parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate and sadly, so much more. I want to quickly take a look at one of these to explain why it is bad.

For example, parabens are synthetic preservatives that have been linked to cancer and reproductive issues. According to the Environmental Working Group, “Parabens can disrupt the hormone (endocrine) system, and were found in the breast cancer tumors of 19 of 20 women studied.” Now that is pretty scary to me! I know that you do not want to put these kinds of chemicals on your sweet little baby, so why put them on yourself while pregnant? The good news is you do not have to.

If you did not already know, Due Maternity doesn’t just carry maternity clothes – they have skin care products too. And even better, they have a line of natural products by Mambino Organics. Mambino Organics promises to be 100% natural and free of parabens, phthalates and additives. For us pregnant ladies, we can grab the Anti-Stretch & Rebound Skin Duo to help restore elasticity to our growing bellies and reduce the appearance of stretch marks. I should have used this when I was pregnant with my twins; they did quite a number on my belly! Another great “kit” they put together is the Mommy On The Go Kit. This is good to have once your little bundle of joy arrives and includes useful things like a nipple cream for the nursing mom, baby oil, lip balm and other goodies.

Remember, what you put on the outside of your body does not just stay on the outside. It is absorbed into your blood stream which is why you should use products with the safest ingredients possible. You and your baby deserve the best!
