How to Through A Larger Than Life Small Wedding on a Budget

This one is as simple as crowdfunding your honeymoon. It might sound strange at first, but do you really need another blender or set of dinner plates? Instead of having your guests purchase a bunch of things you’ll end up trying to return anyway, why not let them chip in for…

How Due Date Calculators Can Change Your Pregnancy for the Better

Learning that you are pregnant can be one of the most joyous occasions in a woman’s life. As many of us know pregnancy can happen spontaneously or after much trying.  Regardless of how a woman becomes pregnant, it is vitally important for her to know when she…

Two years ago, the day before Thanksgiving, I went on a self-inflicted blind date. Both of the boys were gone and I found myself alone for the holiday. The guy in the photo to the left was the lucky guy. His name is Dexter Vines.

Believe it or not, we met online and after several online chats, he decided he wanted to speak over the phone. I assumed he wanted to hear my sultry voice. LOL

Our first conversation was very down-to-earth, laid back without any clichés or formalities. It seemed we had known each other for at least six months, instead of a few weeks. We talked, joked, laughed, and laughed some more. I was so into the conversation, I slipped and told him that my boys were out of town. What was I thinking, right? Yeah I know, I was probably a bit reckless sharing that bit of detail with someone I had yet to meet. But, for some reason, I felt totally at ease with this guy.

I told him that I was a divorced, single mom of two boys and and he told me he was divorced too, minus the kids. I was surprised to learn that Dexter is a very talented, successful artist. He’s a comic book Inker and works with Marvel and DC Comics to name a few. He has worked in the comic book industry for the past 16 years. In fact, I dare you to Google him. LOL I’m so proud of this guy!

At some point in our conversation, he asked me if I wanted to grab dinner. I was very flattered, because it literally had been several years since a guy asked me out on a date. As I blushed like a 16-year old teenager, I smiled and said, “Sure!” When we ended the call, I was smiling from ear to ear and panicking about what I was going to wear.  I’m one of those women who believes in making a good impression with my intellect, wit and style of dress. *wink*

So, we decided to meet at Carrabbas, a very nice Italian restaurant. Since I’m a stickler for being on time, I was shocked to see he had arrived before I did. Yes, he collected several cool points for that alone.

We continued the night with great conversation, delicious food, and a very zealous waiter who decided to share his life story with us towards the end of the night. We still crack up about that one.

Dexter genuinely brings peace to my otherwise chaotic world of being a SuperMOM. One of the most important things to me in the world is having peace of mind. There’s nothing like it and he makes it possible on a daily basis…And I love him for it!

Here’s to having experienced two awesome years together, with more to come!
