Creative Ways to Incorporate More Happiness Into Your Life

Whether you find yourself super busy or lazing around at home apathetically, you should be able to find something in one of these ideas to grab onto and incorporate into your own life. Whether it’s crafting at home, skiing, or joining a club, there’s something out there for everyone. Read on to discover creative ways to incorporate more happiness into your life.

The Small Things

Science has an amazing body of knowledge. Though you probably wouldn't turn to science as a source of happiness, it has uncovered some interesting and easy ways to trick your brain into producing endorphins, dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin, all of which are chemicals released by your brain when you are happy.

It’s interesting to note that the body features a built-in calm creator—breathing. If you spend a few minutes every day doing square breathing practices, this has been proven to relax your nervous system

Take Up a Hobby

Another way to boost your happiness is to take up a hobby. Studies have concluded that engaging with a newfound hobby can have tangible benefits in your day to day life. For example, a test group experienced greater happiness when they engaged in an activity that they liked, as opposed to another group who did not engage in any extracurricular activities.

If you find exploring new hobbies daunting, you can simplify the process by selecting a few simple ones that fascinate you. Whether you would like to learn a new musical instrument, pick up a few crafting supplies and start an art project, or volunteer at a youth center, you simply need to start doing what makes you happy. Furthermore, a hobby doesn't need to be an elaborate affair, and it certainly doesn’t need to be expensive. Try picking up any of these suggestions for starters!

Even for people who hate reading, there is usually something you can find at your local library or newsstand. Whether it’s a gossip magazine or a new novel, reading can boost your happiness as much as getting a raise. On the other hand, if you’re not a fan of reading, consider writing your own story instead. Indulging in your creative imagination is a tried and true method to creating your own happiness!

Eat Better

Eating might not be a hobby, but if you can find a way to integrate new and exciting foods into your diet, you’re bound to be happier! Studies have shown that drinking coffee can increase dopamine and serotonin levels in half an hour, so make sure you are mindful of how what you eat affects how you feel.

Incorporating more B12 in your diet is also a very important, as lower B12 blood levels have been linked to depression. Happiness and healthiness are inherently linked. If you constantly have cravings for unhealthy foods, switching up your diet can make all the difference. You can even start cooking as a hobby

A major benefit of eating better is that it will also contribute to weight loss. Whether you are inclined to weight lift, jog, or practice yoga, eating better is a key element to losing weight and staying healthy.

Go Outside

Any outdoor activity will suffice, especially considering that people who stay indoors most of the time tend to be less enthusiastic and joyful. It doesn't even have to involve anything too active or high-adrenaline—even going for a walk around your neighborhood can lift your mood!

If you have kids, consider taking your children out to the park and discover what fun activities you can engage in while outdoors! A few options include biking through scenic paths and ice skating at the rink.

Find the Time to Embrace Yourself

With all of life’s chaotic moments, it can be difficult to carve the time to spend time with yourself. Instead of wasting time in front of the TV or snacking away your stress, consider developing a new lifestyle that can accommodate for your inner happiness. Follow the provided tips above, as well as explore a few new ones, and see how you can creatively incorporate more happiness into your life today!
