Earth Day's 40th Anniversary, Celebrate with Ed Begley Jr.

With April upon us we may now begin our formal preparation in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day. What and when is Earth Day you ask?

"Earth Day aims to inspire awareness of and appreciation for earth's environment. It is currently observed in more than 140 countries around the world. The April 22 Earth Day is usually celebrated with outdoor performances, where individuals or groups perform acts of service to earth. Typical ways of observing Earth Day include planting trees, picking up roadside trash, conducting various programs for recycling and conservation, using recyclable containers for snacks and lunches. Some people are encouraged to sign petitions to governments, calling for stronger or immediate action to stop global warming and to reverse environmental destruction. Television stations frequently air programs dealing with environmental issues.

The April 22 Earth Day, founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson, was first organized in 1970 to promote ecology and respect for life on the planet as well as to encourage awareness of the growing problems of air, water and soil pollution. Some people prefer to observe Earth Day around the time of the March equinox. In 1978, American anthropologist Margaret Mead added her support for the equinox Earth Day, founded by John McConnell. She stated that the selection of the March Equinox for Earth Day made planetary observance of a shared event possible."*

How does MyWorkButterfly.com plan to celebrate? Fabulous question! MyWorkButterfly.com had the great pleasure of interviewing Rachelle Carson-Begley this past December in her Los Angeles home. Rachelle is the wife of Ed Begley Jr., star of Planet Green's, Living With Ed, an environmentalist and mom. After we interviewed Rachelle we were thrilled to be able to meet and interview her husband, Ed Begley Jr. as well. Ed and Rachelle agreed at that time to partner withMyWorkButterfly.com in a GREEN auction to benefit Green Wish and the VH1 Save The Music Foundation. We go live with the auction on April 1st at MyWorkButterfly.com- the highest bidder will win roundtrip airfare to LA, gift from MY ECO Shopping Bag System and the opportunity to dine with Ed and Rachelle. Now that's one hell of a GREEN celebration! Watch this promotional video of Ed and Rachelle sharing details about the auction: http://www.myworkbutterfly.com/video/rachelle-and-ed-begley-jr

So now it's our turn to ask a question. Will you help? Proceeds raised will benefit Vh1 Save The Music Foundation and Green Wish in an effort to support children's music education in America's schools and in improving the environment. Please, bid early and bid often to make a difference in the lives of children and the earth in which they live.

The Begley's thank you and MyWorkButterfly.com thanks you.
