Family Bonding ~ Things That Make Us Stick Together

Every year around the last week of October, students in the Philippines have their semestral break.

Today is the last day of this week long vacation for my children.

During the past days, we had lots of bonding moments which we intend to do again when time permits. Some of the stuff we did were quite unusual but I think some other whacky families may be doing the same.

First on the list, my eldest daughter and I applied hair color by ourselves at home.

We haven’t done this before but my daughter and I have been wanting to try it out for years. We were hesitant because we feared our hair might end up looking like strawberries. But turns out, it was so easy to do! My daughter loved her hair so much (ehem…I applied the hair color to her hair)…that until the next day she kept on saying how much she totally loves her new hair color! it was messy at first but it’s an experience we’ll be doing again. After all, it’s cheaper than going to the salon.

Now since my children got very good grades during the last grading period (thanks for congratulating me!), the hubby bought them their requested toys.

My son got Speed Stacks, the toy cups which literally makes children compete with time…

that they also rush other things that they are doing just so they can play with those cups, even eating and taking a bath (insert sarcastic smiley here).

After getting these stacking cups, my son and husband trained for hours almost everyday. My hubby coaches and times the cup stacking of my son and me and my daughters cheer for him on the side.

He’s getting quite good at it that he and his father decided to find a cup stacking club which he could join.

And last but not the least of the fun things we did to bond during this past week was to play with Barbie, the doll that never grows old.

This is the toy which my youngest daughter got as her prize for her good grades and me and my eldest daughter were so excited about it too!

The model she got had big plastic nails with red and pink nail polish fit for human fingers…well particularly children’s fingers as add-ons. My eldest and youngest daughter were so amused with the fake nails that they kept on flaunting it in front of me and their father and they even took a picture of it! They’re really funny kids.

Those are our simple pleasures which make us want to spend more time together all the time which is not so hard to do now since I work-at-home :)

What about you, how do you bond with your family especially with your kids? Tell me about it in the comments below :)
