Family Friendly Fridays: Pomtastic! A Story of Ribs and One Very Addicting Drink.

And so our story begins. Once upon a time there was a lowly food blogger looking for ideas on what to make for dinner. She searched high and low in books and on cooking blogs but just couldn't seem to find the right dish for her family.

The blogger was sheer out of ideas, so she poured herself a Pom and tonic with a twist of lime using the Pom juice she was given from Ryan over at Pom Wonderful and sat down to ponder her dilemma.

1 Part Pom Juice

1 Part Tonic Water
1 Shot Vodka (Optional)
1 Lime Slice

She took one sip of the intoxicating drink and just like that it hit her like a marshmallow to the side of the temple. "I'll make ribs with a pomegranate BBQ sauce!" she exclaimed. "And I'll do it in my slow cooker!"

The blogger could hardly contain her excitement. She grabbed up her Pom Juice.

To add to the 1/4 cup of Pom, she also grabbed:

1 Pkg. of Pork Baby Back Ribs

About 2 Tbsp of her Favorite Rib Rub
1 Can of Tomato Sauce
2 Tbsp of Worcestershire
1 tsp of Oregano
2 tsp of Cider Vinegar
1/2 tsp of Onion Powder
1 Add'l tsp of her Rib Rub
3 Cloves of Garlic, Minced
1/2 tsp of Salt
1 tsp of Sugar

The first thing she did was to grab her 2 tbsp of rub and covered her ribs on both sides.

She then threw them in the oven for 10 minutes at 400 degrees, flipping them once during that time. All the while thinking about the dinner hour when she'd finally be able to present her delicious dish to her family.

While the ribs were getting a quick once over in the oven, she threw all the other ingredients into the slow cooker, including the extra tsp of rub, and mixed it all up good.

Ten minutes passed quickly and before she knew it the oven timer was going off. She grabbed the ribs out of the oven, broke them into two pieces and placed them into the slow cooker, spooning a little of the delicious smelling sauce over the top of the ribs.

Finally, she closed the whole thing up tight and set it on low for then next 6-8 hours.

Over the course of the day, blogger girl checked email, picked up kids, replied to her blogger comments, and tweeted about her brilliant dinner ideas on twitter. She didn't even have to think about dinner because it was being cooked for her all the while she worked.

And the smell! She wished she could grab a rib right then and there, but she knew her prince charming would not be a happy camper if he came home to an empty cooker, so she held off and waited patiently.

Finally the dinner hour arrived. She lifted the top off the pot and low and behold her ribs were ready for familial consumption!

She called her family to the table. They could hardly believe their good fortune when they saw what she had cooked up for them! Every last rib was eaten that night and the food blogger lived happily ever after (at least until the next night's dinner decision).

Epilogue: I'll be sharing my rib rub recipe that I used with these ribs on Monday, so if you don't have your own delicious recipe and are in need of a real doozy, be sure to stop by!
