I got to see my sweet baby boy for the first time yesterday, had a 3D sonogram. I love that we now have this awesome technology. I understand what it's like to wait until they are born to see them, my other two are old enough that this was not a possibility when I was pregnant with them.

There are some special things about boys that don't happen with girls. They are taught to feel macho and tough and to not cry. More so by their dads than by their moms. In fact, we have a pink crib sheet leftover from the last child, a girl, and my husband insists that we won't use it for him. I asked, would you use a blue one for a girl? That, he seemed to not have a problem with. My response was, good grief, he's an infant. He won't know the difference between pink and blue. And, who's going to see it anyway, besides us?

The other special thing about boys is their interest and attachment to their parts. Their boy parts. My sonogram clearly showed my son holding on to his penis. I knew they started early.....but in the womb? I'm taking a class right now on practices of sex therapy, which details some of the problems and sexual disorders that may affect men. I pray that my son never has to deal with those kinds of issues. At any rate, he's got a good start in self-exploration and finding out who he is as a male.
