My daughter told me she wants a princess fairy butterfly birthday party.

You heard me.

A princess fairy butterfly birthday party.

She said this very desively.

She looked me square in the eye and said "Just do your best, mommy."

Then, she presented me with her guest list.

I was impressed.

And, amused.

I went off to find my husband.

I knew he would get a kick out of this.

I was smiling as I told him.

I was still smiling as I walked out of the room.

I may have gone two steps, when I just stopped dead.

And, it hit me.

"Who's going to put this whole shin-ding together."

I instantly stopped smiling.

I backed-up into the room.

"How much would I have to pay you to organize this party?" I asked him.

"Oh no! he said. "I love the kid and everything, but uh uh, no way!"

Silence.

We both sat there.

Finally, I said something like "I can do this. I put together some of
the best trade show displays for the largest book publisher in the
world. I can do this."

And, poking my husband, I said "And, guess what buddy, you are so too going to do this... with me!"

So, here we are planning a princess fairy butterfly party.

It's going to be great!

Truly. It's going to be great!

Now, I just have to learn to say it like I mean it.
