Frenzied Friday – Packing with a Toddler

We travel….a LOT.  But if you are a regular reader of Pardon My Poppet you already know this.  I find it chaotic to try to pack for a Toddler as well as myself.  Often I wake up in the middle of the night the day before we leave in a panic.  ”I forgot to pack the diapers!”  or some other such necessity.  Yesterday, Poppet only slept for 40 minutes.  This did not leave a lot of “me” time in the day, let alone wrapping my mind around packing for our trip to Sudbury in the morning.  I had no choice.  I had to pack with her sitting beside me.

No sooner did I get her bag open on the floor and started taking things out of her wardrobe, than she decided it looked like great fun and wanted to help.  Out came an entire shelf of tiny clothing!  I had to stop her!!!!  Ah….an idea.

“Poppet?”  She looks at me curiously.  ”Take this.”  I hand her a dress.  ”Put it in the bag.”

She did.  Jackpot!  My baby has turned into a little girl who is able to help!  Given, most of her clothing was piled up high on top of the bag, but at least it was in the general vicinity and she stayed out of trouble!  Bonus!  I’m actually looking forward to packing for the return trip home, it was kinda fun!

Warmest regards,

Another Mom Hat: High School Choice Researcher

We've come to that moment of parenthood that came much too quickly for my preference, but nevertheless, it's here. We are now looking into high schools for my first-born. I've always been a private-school, Catholic school kid & parent so now we're transitioning to the public school system. I've decided to go out of my comfort zone because we're fortunate to belong to an awesome school district with great high school pathway options. I've done some outside research & now it's a matter…

Motherhood is a Learning Journey

...This week has been a true test of my sheer will and strength as a mother--sending my 13-year-old, my first-born off on a 5-day retreat miles away, off the grid---no contact! It's been emotional--up & down--happy for him, worried for him, excited for him then missing him. Very much missing him.  And I survived. My Huz has survived (barely) & his younger brother (very bonded to him) also survived.  We missed him SO SO much!! But we love him and want him to experience…
