Friends Do Not Need to Know You Drink Box Wine – Boxxle

By Audrey van Petegem, Chief Editor

In case you did not know this about me, I enjoy my wine. My husband and I have wine, good wine, with every dinner. Initially, we snubbed box wine. Let’s face it, box wine has a stigma of being cheap stuff.

Box wine is slowly loBoxxle Better Wine Boxsing its bad reputation. Well known vineyards are now boxing their wines because they recognize the merits of doing so. The airtight three liter wine-filled plastic bladder inside a cardboard box is cheaper to produce AND the wine can stay fresh, once opened, for up to six weeks. It is portable and shatter proof, therefore making it perfect for camping, poolside, etc. Plus, it is far more environmentally friendly since it uses less energy to produce one cardboard box than four+ glass bottles, leaving less of a carbon footprint. In addition, both the boxes and bladders are recyclable.

My friends are slow to agree with our new found love for box wine. So, here is the solution. Boxxle is a stainless steel dispenser that holds the bladder of wine and looks attractive on a counter, bar or table, hiding the fact that the wine comes from a box. But it is practical also. The airtight bladder compresses out the air so that each sip of wine will taste like the one before. Plus, it dispenses all the wine, so you do not have to squeeze the bag to get the last drop.

Here is a short video to show the merits of the Boxxle and box wine:

Boxxle can be purchased directly from their website for $99.00. This would make a great gift for the dad who loves his wine!

At the end of the day, I much prefer to pay for the wine and less for how it comes packaged. Gradually wine lovers will see the merit of the boxed wine for its cheaper packaging, improved quality and its lasting freshness.

PS: Do you have a father who enjoys his wine? Think of the Boxxle as a great gift idea for Father’s Day.
