“One man’s garbage is another man’s gold.”

Coming from a culture where one never throws away their belongings but rather passes it down to the next generation, it always amazes me the stuff that people throw out or leave on the curb (here in the US)  for the garbage truck to haul away!

My sister-in-law has the best luck when it comes to picking up pre-loved furniture that people dispose of on the curb. One of the advantages of living in her part of Long Island is that people throw out quality, heirloom, vintage furniture. The type that if found in a vintage shop would cost thousands of $$$’s. Over the years she has ‘collected’ a fine selection of high-end vintage finds that has now found a loving home.

Recently she picked up a couple of pieces that she generously turned over to me. Now I am proud owner of two vintage pieces thanks to my dear SIL.

And there you have it. Sometimes the best “shopping sprees” are the ones where you don’t have to spend a single dime.
