Did you know that most homes in Texas do NOT have basements? This fact is also true in many other parts of the country!

Color me ignorant but I didn't know this until yesterday. I happened to be talking to one of my blogging buddies yesterday, Jeannie - from Musing From Left Field (aka the exclamation point queen), about her new treadmill purchase. I told her how we keep our treadmill in the basement in front of a tv and she told me that they don't have basements in Texas.

I thought she was just joking.

But then I decided to ask the most knowledgeable person I know, Google. (HA! Dad you thought I was gonna say YOU didn't ya? Well you are second only to Google).

Turns out there are many reasons why most Texans don't have basements. From water levels to various soil conditions, the bottom line is having a basement in Texas seems to be a lot more trouble than it's worth.

I must admit, I'd never given it much thought before. Living in Upstate New York my entire life I've taken our basements for granted. Just about everyone ...
