Fundraising and school are inevitable. But that doesn't mean you have to dole out your hard-earned money on products that end up in the garbage, or on the hips. The company I recently started working with has fortunately been able to combine two of the inevitable issues facing parents today- school fundraising and preserving the earth for our children.
Green Students Fundraising was started by a group of University students who wanted to create a socially responsible business that encouraged people to live in harmony with the planet. And what they ended up with was a program that well, benefits everyone.
The fundraiser promotes the 3 R's through products like stainless steel water bottles, a litter-less lunch kit and dryer balls that take the place of your petroleum based lint sheets. Not to mention the uber neat line of greeting cards that grow into wildflowers, herbs, or even a spruce tree, when planted.
But the fun doesn't stop there. The fundraiser comes complete with curriculum resources and teaching tools to further engage the students in learning about their impact on the environment and the small things they can do to make a major difference.
Working for this fundraiser has been a great way to meet moms who want to do as much as they can in the fight against global warming or, who have just set out. It is great for the individual to take the steps they can, like limiting shower time and changing all lights to CFL, but being able to encourage your community to take these steps too is that much more fulfilling. And not just for that one mom, but for every one who decides to stop buying individual water bottles, start eating healthier and caring more about the environment, because reality check, this environment is our home.
Making the switch to responsible products can begin to feel like a chore when it's one more item on your to-do list, which is why this fundraiser is great. These products come straight to your home and have been quality tested and assured to meet the highest levels of safety and workers' rights, which takes the guess work out of going green. And trust me, there isn't a price you can put on the satisfaction you will feel using these responsible products.
Finally, there is a way to help the environment, help the school and help yourself.
