Happy Thanksgiving! (a few days late)

Are you exhausted? ; )  This was the first Thanksgiving I hosted and not that I didn’t know it was a lot of work but I think being pregnant with an achy back just made all of the work a *little harder!  I was so sore and sleepy on black Friday but it was so worth it!  The memories, the smell of Thanksgiving in our home all day, watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade and the comfort of being together with nowhere to go… I’ve always wanted to create this kind of Thanksgiving Day memory for our kids; the ones like I had as a child.  Our day was full of all things wonderful. We spent the morning prepping food and setting the table and I was pleasantly surprised of how willing our 2 little boys were to help in the kitchen!  Making mashed potatoes was a hit!

This was also a Thanksgiving Day that we will never forget.  Our Rocco learned how to ride his bike without training wheels!  We were all home, all present in the moment, when off he went peddling with daddy running right beside him!  We were so proud, cheering and clapping and shouting his name; it was such a special memory!  And I kid you not, Roman will be there in a minute… you should see how fast he can go around our culdesac!

While we missed the Lorence clan this Thanksgiving, they were out of town and we spent the afternoon and evening with my side of the family.  There was 9 of us!  Dad opened a bottle of Asti Spumante; one of my favorite holiday drinks.  I took a sip and moved onto a Sparkling Raspberry non-alcoholic something or other I found… it was good.  We caught up with the latest and greatest while the boys watched re-runs of the Parade.  They were exhausted from all that bike riding!

Dinner was served and mmmmmm, so good.  I’m a sucker for my mom and dads stuffing; it’s heavenly.  I only screwed up one dish; the green bean casserole.  The beans were undercooked and crunchy.  Oh well.  Live and Learn!

I’m so thankful for my family.  And beyond blessed to have my little family of 4 (soon to be 5!).  We are SO imperfect;  its perfect.

- This is where I would insert a family photo if we would ever remember to take a family photo on a holiday. -

Mom and I joked about going shopping that night; yeah right.  I couldn’t dare tackle the crowds and honestly, are we really getting that good of a deal?  I seriously think stores mark up prices for black Friday.  Tell me the best deal you got if you were out and about!  I’ll live through you because I’ll never give up a nights sleep to go to Target – I’m known to do craaaazy things when I’m sleep deprived.

Hope that your Thanksgiving Day was special in many ways!  Full of the people you love, good conversation, yummy food and an awesome memory or two!
