Symptoms to Take Notice of in Children

The NHS has been facing ever-increasing pressures in recent years, with slashed budgets, staff shortages and lack of resources taking its toll on the quality of care. One of the many ways we commonly see the impact of these pressures is in waiting times for GP…

Mother of the Bride Guide

The day you’ve dreamed of for years has finally arrived! Your little girl is all grown up and has chosen a partner to start her life with, and you are officially a MoB -- Mother of the Bride! While congratulatory remarks are appropriate at this juncture, so are a few…

How to Through A Larger Than Life Small Wedding on a Budget

This one is as simple as crowdfunding your honeymoon. It might sound strange at first, but do you really need another blender or set of dinner plates? Instead of having your guests purchase a bunch of things you’ll end up trying to return anyway, why not let them chip in for…

So number 1 son graduates this Friday. As you may know, I am having a hard time thinking that my little boy is old enough to graduate from high school. It was just yesterday that I brought him home from the hospital. Given this emotional turmoil I’m in, it’s been difficult to get excited and plan for the graduation events. But I’ve been doing it sporadically. He didn’t want a big party, and after I threw my own graduation party last year at home, I swore I wouldn’t do it again because it was SO much work. But yet, here I am, hosting a home party. To be sure, my home is not that big. The Man complains that it is too small to host big parties (or any, for that matter), but it is my feeling that people don’t really care how big your house is; all they wanna do is love on you a bit. So that’s my theory. Anyway.

To make graduation prep worse, we have a lot of things going on: doctor’s appointments, prep for vacation, and I have a pinched nerve, something I have had to deal with periodically since my car accident nearly 10 years ago. So cleaning will be tough for me this week, but I’m SURE number 1 son and pumpkin will pick up the slack! Prolly get Man to help too since him is so big and strong and can move things.

So I said I wasn’t doing a big party, but whatever. I’m having it catered and here’s what’s scheduled to be on the menu:

  • Made to order omelets
  • A fruit bowl with yogurt dressing
  • Roasted red bliss potatoes with garlic and rosemary
  • Cold pasta salad with sundried tomatoes
  • Cold grilled chicken breast mustard vin
  • Fresh salsa and guacamole

I’m thinking I’ll also offer mimosas, coffee, and a non alcoholic drink, although not sure what. I’m open to suggestions. I’m also trying to figure out what to do about the cake. We’re not the traditional type of family so a good luck graduate cake or something doesn’t seem fitting. So, I’m open for suggestions with that too! I’d also like a floral table centerpiece but I’m not sure if there will be room.

Anyone have any suggestions? What have you done for graduation parties, I’d love to know!
