I have been dying to get my 2 year old her play kitchen. I LOVED my play kitchen as a child and I was so excited to buy it for her. I heard so many mom's getting it for their kids when they were just a year old, but I didn't think it was a great gift yet....she wasn't even pretend playing until 18 months. So I patiently waited to get it for her until her 2 yr old birthday. It sat in boxes for three weeks in my dining room waiting to be put together. When you have two kids close in age and still babies it kind of takes up most of your time. So I called my older brother and asked him to do it when he came down. He agreed and told me that he would bring it to his hotel room if he had to. We laughed about that because wouldn't it have been funny for him to be carrying these massive boxes into his hotel room and walking out with a play kitchen. Anyways, I digress.
The night of her birthday her two uncles and aunt put it together. My brother is a computer guy, my sister in law is the most organized person I know, and my brother in law is a master carpenter that builds the most beautiful kitchens I have ever seen. YES it took a master carpenter to build the play kitchen. It took them a while to put it together, all the while my daughter and her 4 1/2 year old cousin ran around and had fun. I felt bad that my husband and I weren't putting it together but...well we were tired and they were the experts.
Once they were done my daughter and her cousin played with the brand new play kitchen. This kitchen has everything and it takes up most of my small living room. The kitchen we bought is the Step 2 Lifestyle Deluxe Kitchen. It is basically the mother of all play kitchens. I bought the most fabulous play food and plates, etc.
I went overboard.
Yup, too much stuff....and maybe to big of a kitchen.
Now my 6 month old is surrounded by play food. My living room basically has not one inch to walk around because of play food and kitchen utensils and dishes. I am spending most of my day cleaning this kitchen stuff up, and well the kitchen itself is kind of an eye sore in my living room. Here are a few pictures of the disaster that is my living room now.
