How did My Blog Get a Ranking of 2/10 on Google

Hello Everyone,

I started my first blog, www.survivethecostofliving.com about 1 year ago, I didn't really post all the time unitl recently. When I found the Google rank button I checked and my blog was rated 2/10. I never did anything special, just stuck with keywords that I was used to using for SEO. I write articles for just about anyone, even essays for college kids. I never worried too much about backlinks, I was writing on my blog just because I wanted to share tips on saving money, not your traditional coupon tips, although I do have thesetoo. My posts can be on how to fix your dishwasher before you call a plumber, or go on hikes to enjoy a day with your family instead of spending a fortune on a waterpark, or make a craft instead of buying something, and how to put together great gifts from the Dollar Tree. I do not have many followers, only 17, my traffic isn't that high, but I guess I am doing something right.

My second blog www.alocalviewofthepoconos.com was started about a month ago and I am 0/10 on google, that is pretty good considering you don't even show up unless you make it to 0. Again, I did not do anything special ecept follow good SEO practices, I have 1 follower and not alot of traffic, but I am ranked.

Now I would like to get more followers, but I can't. I do not know how I got the ranking, without followers and backlinks so maybe it is the good SEO practices. Does anyone know how my blog coud get a ranking of 2/10 on Google without doing all that is recommended, and without that much traffic and followers?
