How to Keep Your Teeth Naturally White

There are plenty of products on the market that can whiten your teeth but what if there were ways to save some money and keep your teeth naturally white? Experts from Bajars and Bajars Dental Office in San Diego shared a few tips on how you can achieve that Hollywood smile without visiting a dentist:

Good oral hygiene is a must

Remember to brush your teeth at least twice a week, after meals. From time to time you can use a whitening toothpaste. Don’t skip flossing! You can also use an antiseptic mouthwash that will remove bacteria which cause plaque buildup. Try to opt for more natural products that eliminate bacteria, such as coconut or sesame oil.

Add baking soda to your toothpaste

You can substitute typical whitening toothpastes with a homemade solution. Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 2 teaspoons of water to prepare a paste that will help reduce yellow stains and remove plaque. Do this at least once a week for a few months to see the results.

Use apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is another natural product that kills bacteria and has a bleaching effect. However, you shouldn’t use it more often than twice a week as it can soften the teeth and damage enamel. Just add some water and use it as a regular mouthwash.

Avoid products that stain your teeth

Products like coffee, tea, soda or wine have the biggest impact on discoloration of your pearls. If you are unable to skip your morning coffee, try to use a straw to avoid exposure as much as possible. Remember to brush or at least rinse your teeth after you’ve had a drink. Beverages are not the only products that can stain your teeth. To avoid discoloration you should stay away from acidic food such as citrus fruit or hard candy.

Quit smoking

Smoking does not only stain your teeth and give you a bad breath but can lead to a series of other oral health issues, such as gum disease, tooth loss or even mouth cancer. That’s why if you really dream of healthier, whiter teeth you should give up smoking completely.
