Whether it’s a cosy hot tub, a full-sized pool or something in between, having a private place to take a dip at home is one of life’s greatest luxuries. There is little that compares to shrugging off the day’s troubles with a few relaxing laps or a good book and the gentle massage of…

How to use a map? Activities for kids & parents that don't cost anything.

This is so, so important. I can’t stress enough what a vital skill this is.

I know that you may think now: ‘We’re not going to need that with all the GPS & iPhones & smartphones with satellite navigation systems.’

Well, just imagine you are in a place where there is no cell reception (yes, there are places like that on this planet), your battery is dead, you lost your device, etc. Once again, reading maps is an essential skill. And, after all, all these apps on the smartphones are maps.

So, getting to the point. Get your old map & show your little one what means what. By that I mean what colours are the mountains, oceans, rivers. Show them countries, continents etc. Explain to your child where is West, East, South and North.

You can also show your child how to use a car map with road numbers & colours and even show them google maps or an app your smartphone.

This activity is not only educational but it’s a great fun, too. Besides it will be very useful at school or at least I hope so.

Enjoy the learning & teaching,
