Symptoms to Take Notice of in Children

The NHS has been facing ever-increasing pressures in recent years, with slashed budgets, staff shortages and lack of resources taking its toll on the quality of care. One of the many ways we commonly see the impact of these pressures is in waiting times for GP…

Mother of the Bride Guide

The day you’ve dreamed of for years has finally arrived! Your little girl is all grown up and has chosen a partner to start her life with, and you are officially a MoB -- Mother of the Bride! While congratulatory remarks are appropriate at this juncture, so are a few…

How to Through A Larger Than Life Small Wedding on a Budget

This one is as simple as crowdfunding your honeymoon. It might sound strange at first, but do you really need another blender or set of dinner plates? Instead of having your guests purchase a bunch of things you’ll end up trying to return anyway, why not let them chip in for…

I know I’ve been a little slack with my writing the past week or so, but I’m trying to get back on track. Of course, when I have crazy stories to share, I immediately find my way back to my blog. As I mentioned in a previous post Xavier (my 18yo son) was liberated when he finally got his car out of the shop.

A couple of days after he started driving to school, Xavier calls me before practice sounding very frustrated. This is how the conversation went:

Xavier: Ma, my car won’t start.
Me: What? (confused)
Xavier: I was about to move my car closer to the football field, but the car won’t start. I think I left the lights on this morning. (pissed)
Me: Don’t worry about it we can jump it off when I see you after the game.
Xavier: Why does everything happen to me? It’s always something! (elevated voice)
Me: Dude relax, we can jump it off later!…And why are you getting snippy with ME?! I didn’t do it, YOU did! (irritated)
After the game, as promised we jumped off his car and he drives off with his girlfriend in tow.
12:31 a.m…Saturday morning
Xavier: Ma, my car won’t start again. (hopeless)
Me: Are you kidding me? (pissed)
Xavier: Nope (over it)
Me: Ask her mom if she has any jumper cables.
Xavier: No, they don’t have any.
Me: Uggh!!! I will be there as soon as I can. (mind racing because I don’t have any cables either!)
The jumper cables we used earlier belonged to my boyfriend Dexter and we didn’t think we would need them again and he took them home. So, I called a girlfriend and asked to borrow their cables.
I get out of bed in my pajamas, put on my fuzzy turquoise robe, socks, sneakers without laces/tongues hanging out. Oh yeah, I looked a Hot Mess! But I could’ve cared less.
I Was Fit To Be Tied!
I drove over to pick up the cables; drove to find Xavier. When I get there, the car is parked in a parking space…now we (Xavier & I) have to push the car out of the parking space. OMG, can this get any worse?
Yes-It-Can!
On the way home, the car shuts off again at a four-way stop! By now, it’s 1:30 a.m. I’m tired…I’m sleepy…I’m cold…And I’m about to LOSE IT!! At this point, we are both pissed!
The next day, the automotive store told him nothing was wrong with the battery, only a lot of corrosion around the positive/negative posts. GO FIGURE.
The things we must do for our children as single mothers…errr…SuperMOM’s LOL
Tell me what would you have done??
