Like finding obscure blogs??

Am I the only one that likes finding obscure blogs? When I come across a blog that already has 1200 followers or 25 comments on every post I get a little turned off. Of course there are some exceptions. But as a general rule for me I like finding great new blogs. I don't know why this is.
I am the same way with following people on Twitter. The only people I follow on Twitter with thousands of followers are people like Oprah. I'm also this way with discussion forums - unless it's something I feel I MUST respond to I'm generally not interested om replying to something that others have already responded to a million times. I have no clue why this is. All I know is that's the way I am.
Perhaps a part of me wants to know I'll be noticed and my follow will be appreciated. Maybe I want to know my tweets and comments will actually be read. That's not so bad is it??
Am I hurting myself in the long run? Can this be bad practice for my own blog? Am I the only one who likes "discovering" amazing blogs?

I like it very much when I get a reply to a comment I've posted, although I confess, I'm not always good at responding to comments on my own blog! But I am still learning as I go - I'm new to it.

I don't see how it can be a "bad" practice for your own blog. I like to think the readers will come if you are true to yourself - and that will show in what you post and where you post it. It might just take longer to develop your following, but that's ok - fine wine takes time, too.

and 12. Rarely a comment. I think people just don't want to take the time to comment....not that they don't want to respond. Hang in there!

I feel like if a person has 200 comments will they actually have time to even glance at what I have to say, or to care? I am a fairly new blog (when I started I imported posts from my old blogger account to my new domain name - so I do have some content) I have 8 followers on facebook networked blogs and five via my feed. Of those... I am lucky to get ONE comment. I am trying ending my posts with ?'s but ppl still seem not to want to comment on what I have to say...oh well, at least I'll have my blog some day when I'm 80 to look back on, much as my grandmother had a trunk of old photos.
